Malt 379
Been following this for a while, can't wait to get up in the morning and see if they manage to land the thing safely or end up with a 2.5 billion dollar pile of nuts and bolts! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-19132121 Amazing way they're trying to land the thing, almost something you'd expect to see in a big budget sci fi film. Born Hunter 17,780
Interesting stuff. Considering the Americans put a man on the moon 43 years ago last month you might have thought we would have managed to put a man on Mars by now. It's sad how the human race has given up reaching for the stars. CERN has been a real inspiration to the young scientists of the 21st century like the space programme was in the 60's. Such seemingly pointless scientific missions pay back ten fold with the technology developed and knowledge gained. Unfortunately Politicians are short sighted and need the threat of Nuclear war to make such advancements.

What was to be found by smashing two protons together at 99+% the speed of light in a multi billion pound science experiment? For a start we now have the world wide web. Look at the essential satalite technology we have now etc. If we had never gone to the moon we would not now be considering the possibility of mining asteroids! The list is endless and pays back economically.
scothunter 12,609
Cause this planet is dying. There goal is to spread the human race in the stars. Whether there other life up there, that have objections to that remains to be seen.
