Rake aboot 4,935
As some may be aware, I lost a spaniel to cancer earlier, so was left without a replacement for my 10 yr old cocker, he still works hard, but now, it`s too hard, he can work to a standstill in a few hours, so I really needed to think ahead. I do not do the pheasants these days, and have made a commitment to my new lurcher (Jake the Hancock) So started to look about for a smallish lurcher / running dog, that would hunt up and might be a bit handy around the cover. I have spent a lot of time with Kittlerox lately and his Whippet really impressed as a marking, hunting cur, really sharp at picking them out. That coupled with the fact that my missus (who works the dogs, so get a say) really likes Bedlington crosses means that the new team member is Flint 1/4 Bedlington 3/4 Whippet. Dam was a lovely half x cross that the bloke lamped plenty with and the Sire was a racing Whippet Both dogs from the Darlington area, wee village next to Raby castle Could not find what I wanted up here, or anywhere else really, so the missus found this one for me. Took a lot on spec, so hope I wasn`t lied to but they seemed genuine blokes and kept a few obvious good dogs. The bitch was a peach, really lovely looking half cross, nice wide chest. This wee fella is 8 weeks and has a good look about him. Decent size (hoping for 21" or so, fingers crossed) and is a lovely wee spirited thing. Hope the coat will break as well. He will be ready next winter so I have plenty ahead of me yet, but as I have said, EVRYTHING is taking a back seat to lurcher work for the forseeable. Wish me luck ATB 13 Quote Link to post

patterdalejoel 669
what size was the dam if she lamped? was the whippet grandparent a ped or racer type? looks good, got a half x myself keen as anything, and if she knows there is game about she would run herself dead to get it ATB Quote Link to post
patterdalejoel 669
also the coat on my half x was that length at that age and she has a coat like a border terrier so it will hopefully Quote Link to post

Rake aboot 4,935
Cheers for that all blokes The Dam was 21", bloke reconned she had 300 rabbits last year, but as I say, took a lot on spec, went with my gut more than anything. The Sire was a racing Whippet. Had the spiel that he was Laguna from way back, but I ignore that TBH. NO Laguna dogs bred for 20 yrs But the Sire was strictly a racing Whippet. Won at Raby 2 years ago and meant to be fast, (I repeat,, my GUT had more to do with this dog than any sales pitch) Thanks again for the comments blokes Quote Link to post
