Whats the success rate of well bred saluki hybrids

with the very little i know and experience i have that can fit on the back of a stamp you can pair the best of the best and still end up with shit!!!! :yes: you can also breed out of shit an end up with a good dog its all one big lucky dip this dog game :yes: good dogs end up promoted then stud or bitch lined for the next crop of hopefulls bad uns end up on the merry go round with the rest of the ruined mutts to go from post to post or get droped off at the nearest center shit old world an deal on the dogs part in the search for a hero :cray::thumbs:

So we have sorted why some dogs fail, But to the question of success rates, On a whole are the majority of coursing bred pups worth the high premium you pay for them and if there that good these days as running dogs/ sighthounds do you think the hybrid saluki will become more popular than the greyhound as a running dog base in lurchers

i say start them young like all good athletes but then again i have no experience skycat really knows her stuff she must produce some really good dogs i would never argue with anybody who knows there stuff like her she must of done loads and loads of dog work or she must read alot of books atb oneshot

for me it is now. i run in england and would have more saluki in my dog than greyhound :thumbs:

LOL at the last bit :laugh: I wish there had been a lot of books out there when I was learning: would have saved me making a lot of mistakes along the way :laugh:

 

Think of a mother cheetah bringing back live prey for her young to practice on. Young dogs also need easy prey to learn on, which is why myxi rabbits are such a confidence giver. Rabbits bolted by ferrets as well, running away from home, disorientated. It's not very politically correct to talk about running young dogs on young leverets, and to be honest, I've never done it. Get the pup's confidence well up on rabbits, then when it is old enough, let it run full three quarter grown, early season hares, ones which haven't been 'educated' by other dogs. If the breeding is right the dog will learn what to do very quickly.
