Live from the field

Recommended Posts

Hi lads, just out with the HW77K and within 10 mins of landing on the permission I've bagged two rabbits before the thunder and lightening rolled in and the heavens opened. I'm currently sheltering under a lean-to listening to the rain bounce off the plastic roof

Only came up to finish the damn review of the 77! :)

Anyway, shot the first rabbit as soon as I stepped foot in the field. An easy 16m headshot taken from the kneeling position. Turned out to be a half grown mixi rabbit.

Second, and far more impressive shot was taken at 22m from an unexpected standing position. I was spotted by a rabbit in a nearby field which bolted and put me on immediate alert before a full sized rabbit appeared from the hedgerow in front of me. It slowly retreated under the hedge giving me time to sholder the HW77K, knock off the safety and slip the trigger.

Anyway, the sun's back out now so lets see if we can finish this review!

Cheers lads, was an unexpected duo

Looking forward to seeing the new AA S410 soon Darren. Was well happy with the standing shot, like I said the other night its my worst shooting position :)

Edit: Just noted what looks like the pellet hole through the leaf in the 5th photo!

nice shooting mate, and that rifle looks sweet!

i find it funny how we all spend so much money on our air rifles - our 'babys' our 'pride and joy's' - and then put them on the mucky floor to take a pic of our kills

:victory:

Cheers Skot, I don't mind with the HW77K, its a pure working rifle... that gets a good wipe down after every use ;)

My compliments Elliott this is just what air rifle hunting should be. :clapper:

I've often had a wry smile to myself about doing that with a prized rifle Skot. But, it doesn't do to be too precious (says me who bloody polishes and oils everything to perfection after every trip out). And as Elliott says, a good wipe down with a gun-oily rag soon puts a shine back on her surfaces.

This is great shooting with your HW77K Elliott. Doesn't it look fine in the HW97 stock! It's fantastic to see what another fellow can get out of this most accurate and beautiful-performing spring underlever of all.

(And I'm a TX200 and TX200HC owner/shooter too!)

May I ask. What scope are you using with it here Elliott? Looks perfect for balance here.

Best regards mate and keep more updates coming on your progress..

Simon.

Thanks Simon, really enjoying the HW77K.

The scope's a Jap Hawke Frontier 3-9x40. I didn't want anything too heavy and I used to consider that magnification range to be sufficient for a springer, but with the long range targets I've been experimenting with I'm thinking I should have gone for a Panorama EV like Si's

Elliott I've got the 4-12 x 40AOIR hawke panorama EV on my 95K and I must say you wouldn't want another scope, perfect balance, crystal clear optics and lovely half mildot reticule.

It's only when you look down one you realise how sexy they are.
