gonetoearth 5,144
I think we have definately had the rub of the green decisions wise up to now.....but nobody can win through to a gold on luck alone so if any of them were not good enough they,ll get found out eventually.............personally i dont think the best all round fighter necesarily wins an amateur contest in a 1 off bout and thats why i dont particularly like it............but that dont mean you can bullshit your way through a competition the best fighter will usually win the gold over the entire tournament. . Nash before we got lottery funding you had to go back to Moscow. And T WILLIS who won bronze a scouser by the way , to keep out top ams long enough. We need this funding , It creates. Stability. And we can travel to all the international. Compotions to gain invaluable experience we have the talent as you well know and we have the coaches the more succes we have am can only make are succes in the pro game more achievable. If and when the lads turn pro , in the past we lost to many lads far to soon to the pro ranks , for no other reason than money , these lads were doing a days work then. Going training while the rest of the worlds boxerswere funded. And can dedicate them selves we are seeing the benefit of lottery funding. Yes the home games has effect on performance but not as much as the knowledge. That there family don't go without while they strive for medals

gnasher16 30,025
Gte......the term " pro " may well mean professional,ie....being paid....................................but in reality, very few " pro " boxers can actually live off the game...............take Rendall Munroe as an example......top level fighters dont work as bin men during the day for the love of picking up rubbish Its only a very small % of elite pro fighters who can live off the game of boxing. I know bud that's why I have so much respect for all boxes the sweet sience. Some lads just ain't suited to the pro game and could acheive far more in life staying am , seen far to many over the years. In later life ponder on what might have been if they had waited any way. That another thing we won't agree on lol.
gnasher16 30,025
We do agree.............its just like we,ve said before...............there is just such a vast difference between am and pro in every aspect it really is hard to compare the 2 as sports............be it in the ring or out............probably no other sport as so much of a difference between amateur and professional.
