Stuart1985 256
A few members on here are like myself, i will always use a springer. More of a challange. Have just sent my Diana away to be tunned with V mach kit. Cant wait to see how it shoots once tunned and bedded in. A few pictures of lastest bags. A few walk abouts with my diana 52/48 or my HW80. This was a morning walk yesterday 30/07/12 Edited July 31, 2012 by Stuart1985 2 Quote Link to post
Buster321c 1,010
V mach kit and tune to take the `kick` away , make it more smooth ? More consistent and generally improve it ? Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Looks like the gun is spanking quarry already, without the tune Quote Link to post

Buster321c 1,010
Yeah take a lot of the kick away, Well my answer to that was going to be , where`s the challenge if you smooth it out as best you can ? But you came back with this -- That si pittaway chap has a few videos online showing what his 97k is able to do with a lot of skill and a good solid rifle with tunning can do Ye That Si Bloke lol . I am the first to admit that the SFS stage two tune SI has had done , really has made that rifle perform like a PCP , what Tony does is take a very good springer and give it Jedi status , But also i will give credit where its due , Si and Davy ( tossa ugly git ) T63 are well versed in the workings of their rifles and know how to get the best out of them . This is a feat that is not easily achieved , it takes patience , time and practise , as well as a certain amount of natural ability . Them boys can shoot , that for sure ............... 1 Quote Link to post

Take out whatever spring you've got in there and fit the best quality HW35 spec spring you can find. This will drop it to around 30 (.22) and make it nice to shoot again. Stuart, lovely shooting with those springers, mate Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,935
That was a long time ago Andy. The gun was using the standard spring, but in the end it had to be cut to make the gun usable. Quote Link to post
milegajo 595
PCPs were fun and have their place i'm sure. What is telling in my experience, is probably 75% of pcp owners have, or at least want, a springer too. Says a lot. Nice bags there, good shooting. That Diana certainly looks the part. robwelsh 354
I loved my Diana, I have a mod/original 50 underlever here that needs TLC as its in bits, need to get a cocking lever clip that's it. I sold a Diana 280 last year ..gutting Quote Link to post
Mawders 595
You'll never replace that feeling of hitting your target with a springer, pcp are fun but have no soul! 1 Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
Now this is what shooting and hunting with an air rifle is all about to me. Great write up and pics of your bags with your spring rifles Stuart . I've shot and hunted with spring rifles since I was eight years old. I saw the first pre-charged rifles come in and they were very exciting to my young eyes by what they promised. They turned out to be very unnaffordable and disapointingly, unreliable; prone to all manner of faults and breakdowns. Even the weather and a bit of dirt sent many a frustrated shooter off the field before time up. Today of course, they are a different story and way far better than ever before. But, to me, they are soulless, unresponsive and seem to have removed, as far as possible, the shooter's involvement in creating the shot and following through to conclusion. And they are just too light in weight. I'd wobble all over with one. Spring rifles "Talk" to you. They require all the marksmanship skills you have in composing and releasing the shot. You have to shoot correctly to shoot well with one You are involved crucially and directly in the accuracy process of shooting it; all down the line. I'm 55 this year and I love my 12-year old FAC HW80. She puts pellet on pellet at 30-metres zero and hits like a sledgehammer at 20ft/lbs in .22, to whatever range I can shoot out to. My 3-year old HW77 .22 which is the sweetest, most accurate rifle I've ever owned, thanks in no small measure to my close mate Andy (AndyFR1968) working his tuning know-how on it. And my TX200 rifle and .177 TX200HC. I've made shots with these rifles that would be just bloody unbelievable to relate here. And, to be fair, missed some bloody easy short-range "sitters" too but, that's part of the sport! I have all that hunting with an air rifle demands with these beautiful spring rifles and nothing I don't want. And I leave a second hobby of scuba tanks of air and limited fills of air in cylinders..to scuba divers! Sorry for rambling but, I honestly love these springy twangy things to death! And it's great to see other fellows getting the best of the sport with them too. Compliments, respects and regards to all of you who enjoy shooting well with a spring rifle.
