BMW X5 engine management light!!

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I brought a 03 reg X5 with 90,000 miles on the clock 3days ago for a tidy sum of £5500. Everything seemed fine until the engine management light came on? Took it straight to the garage and they have said that no faults are showing on the reader, so they turned it off and said it should be fine....came on again about 5hours later...I had it fully serviced and they said the engine is clean as a whistle and there is no problems.....well there obviously is other wise the light wouldn't keep coming on would it... Anyone had this problem?? Its a 3.0i petrol.

3Litre X5....you sure its no the petrol light...........

Something simple like others have said, get it on the Diagnostic box and it should pin point your problem. Funny why your garage hasn't already tried that though.... :hmm:

Cheers for the replys lads! I had someone come round and go over the X5 as they are a bmw specialist, it was a air hose that had a hole in and was letting two much air into the engine...easy fix! :) and with regards to the petrol light, I've had the car 4 days done £100 in petrol wich gave me about 400 mile give or take a few :o expensive yes! Worth it? Defo!!

Just a bit of info if anyone is thinking of getting one....the lcd's on the dash break all the time, its a common fault with them, for bmw main dealers to fix it its £1000!! But you can have the clocks sent away and repaired all in a week by private companys for a max price of £200.
