Old wives tales aside, the resulting pups are what they are 50% greyhound and 50% collie, no different regarding which parent is what. 1 Quote Link to post
BORDERSCOT 3,816
Had 4 from Hancock now - a Richard Jones half x and a Taffy 3/4 (avatar pic) in the mid 80s. Both excellent dogs the 3/4 did the lot and was a real athlete - brave too - best dog I've ever had - maybe even seen!!! The Richard pup was a dog that you could lamp every night of the week. A hardy soul who never complained - ever!!! Toooooo slow for hares though - by a long way. Was a clever lad and made up for things that way. Had a Kubla pup - nice dog who was really intelligent and eager to please - but a total nightmare to live with. Had serious separation anxiety which blighted everyone's life - tragically sadly missed and a potential unrealised... And now I have the lad below - as nice a dog as I have ever had the pleasure to own He's a first x by Alex and is a big lad. Just a shade over 26" and he weighs a whopping 32kgs (weight taken a month ago - he'll be lighter now). He's 16 months old and I have a really good feeling about this dog. Intelligence to spare - obsessively eager to please, desperately obedient, loyal and protective. He distrusts strangers. But to be honest, if I had been 16 years old and this had been my first lurcher he'd have broke my heart!!!!! I've a good feeling about this dog. 5 Quote Link to post

birddog 1,354
i know the most common way is greyhound sire and logic says 50 / 50 no matter what way round but if you own a bitch you can have your pick of studs. no need to use a 'cast' greyhound if you can get your hands on a decent collie there are lots of top greyhounds at stud if you were being really picky i suppose you could get straws from all sorts, top studs, derby winners even australian champs.
