The thing thats stupid is the fact that " johny foreigner" gets his dogs from over here, and over here we're still building on the blocks that our for fathers left to us. To think that any line of dog is the be all to end all is nonesense, even if you had a yard of perfect working terriers now who's to say what youd have in another generation or two.

Gobshite surely if you had a yard of perfect terriers and kept it real best to best on the toughest quarry cull the passengers and ones what don't make the grade surley in a few genarations u whuld have the best or whuld well be on the road to having second to none dogs isent that evolvation ? ,, yous are the ones always quick to say no wonder thers so much shite about in uk and to many underacheving dogs being breed from and slate nearly evry person who sells dogs of what's read of this site sounds like the dogs of the uk are in a serious decline and there's very few fighting to keep it going a dying breed as I've heard them reffered to on here ?

this is a perfect place to disscuss it the reason our sport is the way it is people were alowed to criminalise it while we were in the pub discussing it over a few pints i work my dogs in the confines of the law and have nothing to hide so why sneak about and get on like we are doing somthing wrong

IMO line breeding produces the best results, even so, you still gets your pits and troughs "ups and downs" . Breeding terriers isn't as black and white as "best to best", you've got to ask yourself whats behind the terriers your breeding from. I'de sooner breed from a dog that wasn't top class but came from a line of top class. It's a case of being honest with yourself about what you've got. I've dug with most of the top names in this country and they're all still chasing the end game "the perfect terrier".
