Many thanks for the expert advice Simon, thanks also to Tron.

No probs with the scope alignment and it has an arrestor stud fitted too, i'll have a fiddle with my hold and may cut the spring

Brilliant write up as always.

I'll report back on my findings.

Cheers the now chris.

Hi I bought this rusty mk1 HW80 for £60 from a local SDS shop, I used the slack part of the belt on a 30"x1" linisher to grind down evenly until I reached the bottom of the pitting, I then polish

its only good natured banter Simon, as you well know, I can shoot a nats nacker off at yards with my quackenbush 1903 .177 rifle with Lanes catslugs!!, Mind you the recoil gets a bit savage! :whist

Well thats the spring cut down and the recoil is much less.

Thinking now that for the final tweak i might fit a Weihrauch moderator to hopefully help even more with the accuracy.

Shooting pretty good for my standards though so its out with the tracer for a bunny or 2 tonight whilst the rain stays off.

CW.

Depending on what you require to be done Bryan.

Sandwell Field Sports are brilliant with Springers generally.

Plenty of excellent tuning kits available. And tuners of course.

Just curious as to who's good and I'm always interesting in improvements. In a way I wonder if with time they're be less Springer expertise as people move away from them?

I've a V-Mach tuned HW77 11.7 ft/lbs which is almost recoiless

and a HW   80FAC I fitted a V mach tuning kit into, polished the piston, chamber, opened the transfer port, chopped the barrel (apologies for any offence caused) with a Vemon silencer, that's good for me on rabbits to 55 yards.

I could still fit buttons to the piston ?

Hi

I bought this rusty mk1 HW80 for £60 from a local SDS shop, I used the slack part of the belt on a 30"x1" linisher to grind down evenly until I reached the bottom of the pitting, I then polished it on a very fine belt and a friend got it hot chemically reblacked! ?

Cost of the reblack was £25 as I did the prep work, It came out OK ?

After reblacking..

I did actually find a .177 cal barrel that I think was cut down and recrowned for my other HW80 which has an HW85 barrel fitted!!

EDIT- Forgot to add a pic straight after the chemical reblack!
