weasle 1,119
They're all just lurchers.............my pup is 8 months now, I can see a lot of traits in her that are collie traits but also others you don't usually associate with a collie x. This pup seems more full on than any collie x I've owned but as she's maturing she's becoming much more tractable, she'll not be just a lamping dog I'll be ferreting etc with her. If I'm asked what x she is I usually reply that she's a "Lurcher"...........names and monikers don't make a dog, collie x's, Minshaws, collie curs call them what you like they'll only be as good as you make them, put the work in and enjoy the rewards. Fairplay to you,You always seem realistic,Unlike some that seem to think they have some kind of golden chalice,And need to prove there selves to every one.Hope the dog comes good for ya. 1 Quote Link to post

bird 9,944
i think the main difference is that with collie / greyhound x's you get much more variety of type and attitude ie smaller collie types, big racy etc and ones that want to herd, some with the guard mentality some with a strong hunting instinct etc. it seems the minhsaw type has been bred from the best of every generation where the best most desired traits have been strengthened, no doubt theres been bits of other things along the way with bull beddy and saluki in there. also how many collie x guys genuinely put as much gear in front of their dogs? these guy's have been out doing it for generations their not put off by a bit of cold or bad weather and the dogs are truly tested. i'm a collie cross fan but not blinded enough to think that every collie x pup makes the grade. just my thoughts guys very true with the differnce in colliexs , as you say ive have hard temps, and some soft. Prob comes down to what collie as been used as well,? ive had 3 all been differnt temps, 1 was nervy, 2 Blaze who ive spoke before of was hard fecker loved anything that bite back lol ok on rabbits, 3rd Bryn best rabbit dog of the 3, softer temp than Blaze but would fire in when i had Tod on anything.! The minshaws type have been bred for hardnights lamping over the years, so prob you get better stamina, but most of my colliexs have had good stamina, as long as they fill the bag it dont matter what x it is. weasle 1,119
And most average dogs are able to fill the bag,how big the bag depends on how fit and how much chance they get,as well as how much game is in the area. But lads that no better read some of the bs on here and think there poor mut is no good cause he aint got the fancy name. Tiny 7 1,694
People worry too much about other people dogs, What they call them , What they do with them or where they work them...... FFS people the seasons not too far away enjoy it no matter what your mutts are, If your happy with them then thats all that matters there ALL just lurchers at the end of the day 6 Quote Link to post
