crorider 174
Im new on here and new to the world of Lurchers but since I got my one I've become obsessed with them. I'm thinking about getting a companion for him and have a rough idea of what I'm after. I've spent hours upon hours reading about peoples different Lurcher types and viewing the pics but I've noticed there are a few crosses that I can find nothing nothing about. such as a straight Saluki x Bedlington or Saluki x Bull? Does anybody know why this is or where I can find any information about them?? Quote Link to post

ferret features 289
just breed the 1 you got then you have a hole litter to choose from but give it a bit of graft first . Quote Link to post
crorider 174
Yea I know there's plenty about saluki/greys or bull/greys but I don't understand why there arent any without greyhound in them? What I'm after is saluki x bedlington x bull x whippet, no greyhound. Not fussed about which way round theyre bred. either a bedlington whippet over a saluki bull or a bull whippet over a saluki bedlington? Quote Link to post

Would do if i had one lol. mine is half whippet, half yorkshire terrier x chihuahua. Sounds ridiculous i know but i think hes gonna make a great rabbitting dog. I walk him every day with my mates 2 dogs, ones a whippet the others a bull grey. believe it or not hes only ever so slightly slower off the mark than the whippet but turns quicker and seems to be quicker top speed. hes quicker than the bull grey off the mark but not top speed but turns her inside out and has double the stamina. hes also so tough, the bull grey smashes him to pieces when they play, throws him about 6 foot in the air but he never stops going back for more. he loves it lol. Cant wait to start him lamping but its as new to me as it is to him so its gonna be hard work i think Quote Link to post

Gaz Well its not entirely for hunting purposes if im honest as ill only get out lamping twice a month tops once i start and i know there isnt many lurchers that cant catch a rabbit. Im not trying to break any records just want me and my dogs to enjoy ourselves. The main reason is that you dont hear abiout any. Id just love to have a really unique lurcher but i love all 4 of the breeds i want in the dog. Ive got nothing at all against greyhounds infact i love them, want a purebred one day. But where i live the ground is quite hard and flinty and ive heard that salukis have harder feet and are less likely to get injuries from running hard ground? Im completely new to all of this so i know i probably sound almost retarded to all you lamping veterans but its just personal preference really. love my lurchers really short and hairy and definitely want a bit of bull in there Quote Link to post

To be honest I can't see you finding that mix though. 2 Quote Link to post

And why the sarcasm about the mix i want? why am i retarded for wanting a bull x saluki x bedlington x whippet to be unique? Youre telling me i wont find that mix anywhere so it'll obviously be unique wont it!! Quote Link to post

I take my dog out with my mates 2 dogs every day for a couple of hours and they dont stop running. Theyre always hunting just not catching a lot in daylight and the long grass and bushes etc but theyre always having a great time. Quote Link to post

All three of our dogs would love to hunt all day every day but as long as they get their 2 hours off the leads to run, hunt or play as they please every day theyre completely f****d when they get home. theyre happy just relaxing indoors. Is theyre much difference in the hunting instincts of a saluki compared to a greyhound or whippet then? i wouldnt know? Quote Link to post
