As some of you know I'm moving house in 3-4 weeks and want to upgrade to some decent kennels that will last a good few years.

I've considered loads of options from housing dogs in the garage and having a massive run to building brick kennels like with runs on the front.

I've just found these type and they look quality...

How much mate for the second set would be interested myself

I didn't want wood because both my dogs are chewers but these have got Galv trim around the popholes and inside frame.

My only concern is how low they are to the floor.

I've got a timber dog run at the moment and it is raised but only about 25mm and it already smells of piss where it's got wet at the bottom and debris has gone under the kennel.

Do you think it would be feasible to raise a kennel and run like those above on a breeze block foundation?

Breeze blocks all around the perimeter, obviously cemented together and to the floor to make a wall.

Would this work do you think?

It would also be better for the dogs 10" off the floor and I could insulate under the kennel with loft insulation as it will be enclosed by breeze block?

Thanks

They are glorified fecking rabbit hutches wired floor piss all room what a fecking awful design ... Not for my dogs that's for sure .

To each his own.

fair coment but there just not suitable for dog's wire mesh floors !!!!! and far from chew proof , designed not by a dog owner, would not use for my dog if it was built for me for free

That's a cracking set up sounder. I like the kennel and run all in one are.

Top job.

i would have loved to more room to add another 2 or 3 kennels slots but was my only way of doing it i need just to re do the floor and slop it into the ajay sewer and paint the floor my old kennels where on the same patch floor were abit to rough , the reason i roof the kennels out was with weather we have the shit would turn into soup after a good shower harder to clean dog jump in and out of boxes the ground was wet bedding got wet in minutes a fecking joke can be clean now in any weather at anytime dark evening are coming they still can be done, dogs are dryer warmer and i found i hated if it was pissing out the never jump out of the box to shit they shitted in the box a c**t to clean them out ... i built mine in block and left a drain outlet of waste pipe so at least they can be washed very quickly some young pup will still shit in the bed but 5 minutes there sorted in time i will put in the water feeder that fill themselves there piped for them now to taps but can be easy fitted again

use your head when building them think ahead and best of luck with them and get some pic up when your done

Thanks very much mate.

I've just designed what I want. A lot of the idea came from yours.

I like just having the one access door from the front, originally I was gonna have a UPVC door into each kennel at the back but that would of proved costly aswell as an easy target for dogs to destroy.

Now I'm going to have a 13' x 5' block built area with 5' Galv panel door, all roofed. Then partition across the back 3', full height wall, but only 3'6" wide so as to leave 18" access on the left hand side.

Then inside the 5' x 3' area partition off 2' of the 3' width with a wall 3 blocks high with a 1 block step over. Very similar to your beds. Then cow mats.

As you say, the whole lot can be jet washed out in seconds and I will slope the floor to run to the front where the drain is.

What roof have you got sounder? Wood and felt or corrugated sheets?

Cheers
