Air arms s410 0
Hi all, I've owned an air rifle for a few years now but never use at home ( 4 kids and 3 dogs) as I don't want the kids or animals to come to harm or pellets everywhere. I recently found 2 dead blackbirds on my garden which had been shot. And yesterday a wood pigeon and another blackbird. I have a very large tree in my garden with nests and I regularly feed the birds in my garden. As I was mowing my lawn today I heard the unmistakable sound of a air rifle and a pigeon fell out of the tree shot dead. I can't figure out where the shooting came fshootings online is shooting onto my property. I wouldn't mind as much but my kids play out in the garden and the shooting is going on in the middle of the day. Am I being petty in thinking I should be phoning the police. Lab 10,979
How many houses surround you? Surely you know some neighbours so you can count them out....i'd chap the doors of the other possible houses and see what they say. You dont need to be aggressive just say your worried about your kids..........

Air arms s410 0
I think it could be about 1of 20 or so houses. I will go round them tomorrow and ask about. I don't mind the fact that birds are being shot, just the fact that they are shooting into my garden( and I get lots of dead birds).

Born Hunter 17,783
It's as simple as this, someone is recklessly shooting at your property. If you can't sort it by yourself you have no choice but to report it. Not being a grass is great untill you are sat by your kids bed in Intensive care with an air rifle pellet lodged in their skull.

Best to try and sort it yourself..................go through the police and even if they do find the culprit you know nothing will be done. Unfortunately you will get labelled as a grass and it could be your windows that get a pellet next. Not worth it for a few pigeons. Have a word and find out who it is i say..............
PlasticJock 539
I had exactly the same situation a few years ago mate, birds and squirrels shot in an area where little kids played all the time. I went to the police station and said if I catch them I'll deal with it myself, didn't grass anyone up but let them know they needed to start driving about more because if I caught them I wouldn't be phoning the police. They parked a car in the area for a few nights and whoever it was stopped
Fisheruk 1
If the gentle knock on the door doesn't resolve the problem you have no alternative than to notify the police. If you don't and someone sees a blackbird shot on your land and you have an airgun it will be more difficult to protest your innocence.

Being labelled a 'grass' is preferable to allowing someone to use your kids play area as a rifle range. Is that not common sense?
