looking at getting out the army and being outdoors

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Firstly thanks for reading this, i tried to make the title as descriptive as possible so not to waste peoples time.

Im 22 and currently serving as an aircraft technician in the REME, but i am looking at signing off when i get back from afghan. this will give me a year to sort everything out.

To this end i have been looking around and although there are many lines of work i could go down i would love to be able to put my resettlement courses into entering a career in the great outdoors. i have looked at the course lists and places that offer them i am just after the opportunity to get more of an insight into the various jobs availiable in the sector.

So to cut a long story short i would like to know if anyone would be prepared to allow me to come up and shadow them in their current roles or could show me the ropes or even introduce me to people in the field (no pun intended) to allow me to make a more informed decision on my future career.

I understand that it isnt all going out culling dear, casually strolling around the land in the glorious midday sun and living the good life im sure that when the days are good they are fantastic, but i also realise that is bloody hard work, early mornings, late nights and in all weather. In return for you help and experience i can only offer to carry out anything you need doing. Im not affraid to get my hands dirty, am a hard worker, will be where you tell me to be five minutes before im meant to be there, but most importantly i am very serious about pursuing this as my future.

Thankyou again for taking the time for this, and thanks in advance for any advice or offers,

Tony
