gonetoearth 5,144
I had a taste of international competition. It's so far removed from club completion. It's pressure pressure. Pressure. Performance. From food right through to psychology The money involved is unbeleaverble. , the china squad are picked as babes on body type to suit different sports , the yanks let people have passports because of there sports back ground etc etc the Olympics is. gonetoearth 5,144
You have never been involved in sport have you lord haw haw. I have a lot of respect for sports people lord Coe but like i say,we are underachievers.Every british athlete who was expected to do well so far has major fecked up... It doesn't help when the commentator at the event, builds up the home athletes so much. At todays slalom the american commentator on the course, using a microphone for all the crowd and David Florence to hear built him up so much. That for me is too much pressure of the wrong type and I think it has a negative affect. If the press layed off them as well, they might do a little better. no bud if your good enough you win he has been down that course 3000 times his bottle went So are you saying all the British athletes who were expected to do well, failed because there bottle went. People often do better when their back is up against the wall. in his case yes not my opinion bud. On a coaching site I am privi to that's the concerns the pressure of the home games could be having a reverse affect. To some

I might be wrong but i feel we will do worse than 4 years ago because of that reason.

I watched her interview before and after and couldnt believe the big smile on her boat race after she'd wasted" 4 years of dedication, effort and time" her words, on.The result was fine cos shit happens but to apologize and say "oh well theres always the next race" is unacceptable and although i envy her optimistic attitude i wouldnt like it on someone i helped train or followed... You would rather she said, "Yeh, swimming a faster time than my Gold winning time in Beijing and only winning a bronze is awfull and I think I'll chuck the towel in now because I'm just that bad"? FFS . You do realise the rest of the world want to win as well don't you! It's not like training and attitude garuntee anything, all the athletes graft fecking hard, if there's someone there better than you there just better than you.
