gnasher16 30,217
As for training for something for four years that you have no chance of finishing in the top three... well sod that for a game of soilders. Personally i have a deep seated mistrust for a non competetive man.................." i cant win so im not playing " is a horrible mentality to have.................if a human being has no desire to improve he lacks human spirit in my opinion................have a listen to Seb Coes speech at the opening ceremony.....it summed sport up for me. twobob 1,497
Think your being a bit hard there. I caught the tail end of the gymnastics lady night, Britain were scoring decent marks. You mentioned volley ball , but tbh our team would have been training hard for years, as will the other nations, but don't matter how hard you train in a team sport you all need to be on top form, I think we will do well. Btw who else thinks sailing is shit lol scot why do you think sailing,s not a sport?

jasper65 6
Home turf and support... months if not years of preperation .... Individuals selected for the olympics should be the best of the rest! it only takes a outstanding talent to come from a town let alone a country to excell and win a medal, if its in them to be superior against other athletes in their field then they should produce the goods.... No excuses the UK should be winning medals and I'm sure they will but some so called expected medalists have already fell at the last hurdle yet again and ended up with not even a bronze........... hedz31 1,308
I have awoken this morning ready for my weekly Sunday sofa session and have stumbled accross the olympics on the BBC. I am astounded at the sheer lack of talent that this country produces. We are a POOR sporting nation. I for one will not be sucked in by fake , naieve and uneducated euphoria that comes from sporting occasions like this. I was the same at the Euro's .. i was the same at wimbledon. (the tour de france i couldnt care less about) . Why are we so poor at everything ?? This morning i have watched Bulgaria beat us at volleyball. ... Bulgaria !!! Our best player was called okulamfia kowaduku .. i mean . c'mon Andy Murray is supposed to be world number #4 ... he is out of he doubles already .. !! Mark Cavendish was a surefire gold .... he was outside the top 30 .. Who is our nearest challenge to Usain Bolt ???? FACE FACTS we are are poor sporting nation in every respect. I hear our cricket team are world number 1 , ... Strauss ( born s.africa) Pieterson (born s.africa) Trott (yep you guessed it , born s.africa Paneser (wears a turban to bowl) Golf .. World number 1 Luke Donald .. has lived in chicago since age 6 Boxing - Lennox lewis , Amir Khan , Prince naseem .. Ricky Hatton is the best real English boxer of recent times.. seated on his arse twice by Mayweather and pacquio and showed a complete lack of class. Hang on ... we just won a heat of the archery ... Get behind Team GB .. !! bollocks .. when did we become team GB ?? it sounds american for a kick off. I'll be glad when its over .. in the meantime i will support USA .. they always seem to do OK. x Un-patriotic fecker go team GB
