BSA Air sporter .177,5 shot group

Recommended Posts

hi every one

i had a carpenter friend of mine buy an old BSA air sporter, which he could not zero at all.he asked if he could bring it around to me,YES! of course.it was covered in that old camo tape and really sticky icky!

he left it with me,and i said i would look after it and zero it for him, well first thing i done was to check the nuts and bolts were all nice and tight, but couldn't see them because of the tape,so i removed all the tape and gave it a good clean and removed some surface rust, with some oil and grade 0000 wire wool. i then tightened every thing back up and put it through the Skan crono graph and then put some AA Field .177 through it, and after a quick zero this is the group i achieved from this ole Air rifle.

circle is the size of a UK 5 pence piece

Sorry I cannot join you this weekend Davy as Helen has made arrangements for me to be elsewhere while I'm down in beautiful Wiltshire this week. I'd love to have had a workout on this old airsporter with you. I reckon there's still a great gun in need of a bit of TLC here.

All the best and hope to catch up with you soon mate.

Well done Davy :victory:

Just shows that you dont need max power to achieve max accuracy.

At 35 yards it's still going to deliver 5.5 ft/lbs into the quarry and thats more than enough for a clean lights out on a bunny

Davy Nice shooting bud id say the Airsporter was the best springer around in them days id love another me self and thay was accurate my mate took out a duck head shot in the 80s as it was taking off from the ponds near us with a reflex red dot sight fitted that was about 30 yards or so, so i dont think you will have any trouble at all

what a classic bit of kit.
