Dogs kept retrieving them getting covered in fleas all the time. One night i couldn't sleep because of a strange squealing noise.Only the next morning did i put 2 and 2 together and realize it was the family of hedgehogs calling to one another.

you sure it wasn't the mother hedgehog giving birth?

all those spikes/spines must wreck its wee squacker

I was out during the day walking the dog headed toward the wood I walked through every other day , walking alone through the wood as usual I always went round the outskirts of the wood were no one else goes best place to let dog off , walking down a cut between tight tree lines about 6ft wide about 40 ft straight and the dog stops still starts jumping forward barking snarling spitting hair on his shoulders on end , I cant see nowt then he started to back up while barking do I did the same ,he then Wimpered and stood still , I nearly sh*t myself so I tried walking forward dog was having none of it so backed off, went a different way , then afew days later the dog did the same thing close to the cut this time i could hear like foot steps getting close no sh*t I though no way I said is there anyone there , no reply so walked off quickly lol dog never did it again but sh*t mr up enough not to go down the cut again lol

Following on from the 'Lamping alone' thread, has anyone seen or heard something whilst out that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up?

The reason I ask is, when I first started going out at all hours I wasn't sure of some of the calls and sounds I heard in the middle of the night, now I know what they are but at the time I had eyes like Jaffa cakes and finger on the trigger

I've heard one of the reasons some travellers are superstitious is, and I quote, ''Believe me, you hear some strange things out in the countryside at night...''

hairs......eh my cock was tho watching this lass getting hammered in a car one night

I remember one night hearing a badger digging about 2 meters from me, it just started when i get near,, just about shit

One night when were about 14, two of us went night fishing and set up with our brollies together. About 3 a.m something shook our umbrellas really hard, just once, so we kind of hoped we had imagined it. About half an hour later, it happened again, and being brave, neither of us wanted to look and see what it was. We could hear something/someone walking round in the long grass behind us for the next hour or so, but again, neither of us wanted to be attacked by the possible escapee from a psycho hospital. Never been so pleased to see daylight and we never found out what it was. (Thankfully) :icon_eek:

when i was a young lad we used to go on what we called night hikes, bearing in mind this was the suburbrs of north london ,we used to dress up in cammo gear and head for the nearest fields ,never far from the rumbling of the m25,one night in the middle of a field we heard terrible screaming and wailing and christ did we shit it and we legged it all the way home, fast forward about 20 yrs i was sitting in a pub in enfield town and over hearing a conversation between two blokes who i guess were farm managers or something like that ,one of them was complaining about kids with air rifles causing him trouble at night ,the other bloke said he used to set up a recording of a woman screaming and wail;ing and hed set it of when kids were in the fields,oh well 20 yrs of tellng a good ghost story explained then

We used to go to a spot up a long country lane in the jack ass off nowhere were we would lamp regularly, one off those places you found by chance, fields around it were always steaming with bunnies. There was a disused farmyard and outhouses and a big farmhouse at the end of it, only the windows and doors were all built up so you couldn't get in to it. Not another house near it for miles. Had to climb over a big set of gates with padlocks on them to get in threw the yard and lift the dogs over, machinery everything was still in there but u knew no1 had been near the place in years, everything was still intact. Always cats around it which made us wonder ? Long story short one off the lurchers chased a cat one night towards the abandoned house, cat got in threw a hole in the block work so we pulled some of it away and got into the house after it with the dogs and lamp. The place was like someone was still living in it, tvs sofas ornaments all the stuff was still in there ! Couldn't find the moggie so after a nosy we got the fk out and I remember one off the lads saying something bads happened in here lads don't steal or take anything with you's outta here, so we didn't. On r way home the entire exhaust fell off my mates car, that was the start off the bad luck. then when we got into town the car infront off us ( a taxi ) knocked down my mates grandfather and grandmother who he was pushing in a wheelchair at the side off the road, she died instantly. At this point my mate pulled an item (which I'm not prepared to say what it was) out off his pocket an threw it over the wall. He'd stolen it from the house. we had two dogs knocked down in two separate incidents the next evening. So my mate had lost an exhaust the other two had there dogs killed and I was the only one to get off Scott free so I thought. Got up out off bed next morn and there was a letter for me, £50 court fine for not attending jury service and a summons to attend court that day !!

Was it all a coincidence ???

I don't know. But it makes the hairs stand on the back off my neck everytime we talk about it. Strange place, i only ever went back to it once after that just to put my mind at rest, but I didn't go into the house mind you.

Id say the worst is defiantly when the dogs stop and start staring and growling, they see something that i dont - that makes the spine tingle lol.

My brother got the shit scared out of him one night out lamping, well on the way home he was walking along an old country road (no houses or lights) at about 3.30am or so, he heard footsteps come from nowhere, he waiting a while then flicked the lamp on to see what it was, and there walking in front of him was a man, he thinks he was in his 60's - its was a very cold night and blustery so it was very freaky that an old fella would be walking where he was on his own. anyway when he got home and got the dog in and sorted, he looked up his lane - and there was the old man standing at his gate!! He never saw that man after that night nor before it, and he lamped them fields regular and exercised the dogs on the same road, we both had lamped that area and never saw no one (ever).
