PlasticJock 539
Following on from the 'Lamping alone' thread, has anyone seen or heard something whilst out that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up? The reason I ask is, when I first started going out at all hours I wasn't sure of some of the calls and sounds I heard in the middle of the night, now I know what they are but at the time I had eyes like Jaffa cakes and finger on the trigger I've heard one of the reasons some travellers are superstitious is, and I quote, ''Believe me, you hear some strange things out in the countryside at night...''
irishnut 297
strangest noise i ever heard was a badger chewing a turnip in a field, very loud crunching noise. sounded like a ghost farting into a toilet roll holder.

PlasticJock 539
A hare screaming, thought a kid was being murdered. One thing that stands out for me is a scream, definitely wasn't human but it s**t me up nonetheless. Still don't know what it was... Probably a hare

moonlighter 1,163
My old dog did the same last week. Having a walk through a grass field in the day light, when he just froze on the spot and hackles came up. When I called him he just paced up and down real slow, like a caged lion... As though there was a line he wouldn't cross! Very strange.

RubyTex 1,957
An old rented house of ours was reported to have been built on a barn which housed a noose, 'back in the day'. This place was where my hunting really kicked off due to having about 50 acres of perm on the doorstep, so I was out all hours when I was 16/17. Some freaky shit went down, most I'll put down to my imagination but when the dog stops, stares and growls, you don't half drop your arse out. The worst part being he'd only do it when we walked past the house directly over the site of the noose...who's alarm went off at 2am every morning no matter how many engineers came out to check for faults amongst other things. Thank fcuk we moved!

Jack.308 40
Me my dad and his mate where put lamping with the rifle. It was not far off 12 o'clock and we picked up a pair of eyes on the edge of some woulds as we got close it was just one round oval, it stood about 5ft off the ground, we stopped the pickup and my dad looked through the scope and said it was a reflecter, we gave it a minute and put the lamp back on it was still there, convinced that it was a reflecter we decided to move on, we kept the lamp on, as the the pick up started the eye closed up slowly and disapeared, bearing in mind i was about 12 at the time i was shit scared proper freaked me out, we went over to where it was and checked for fallen trees there was none the oval would of been about 5inches from side to side we would of been about 200 yards away proper freaked me out still to this day we have never new what that was. Anyone else ever encounterd anything like this? Atb jack
