NEW BOOK: The Season's End by Steven McGonigal

Recommended Posts

I'm putting this up for Steve, who is too shy to do it himself. My publishers have printed the book for him, which is a nice little collection of hunting stories from different parts of the world.

Chapters include pig hunting in the US, and digging: an amusing chapter on raccoons and the dangers of rabies in the US. There are chapters on using Teckels to track shot deer, and some UK hunting stories: fox control, digging with terriers, as well as a couple of lurcher tales, and an Airedale chapter from yours truly: something that wouldn't normally get posted online or written in the CMW!

Also an interesting chapter on using a pack of terriers to flush deer and boar to shooters: you'll have to forgive the writer's English as she is Dutch, but it shows just how versatile a terrier can be, and the very different attitudes hunters have on mainland Europe as opposed to here in the UK.

Steve hopes to make this an annual publication, hopefully growing in size over the years with more and more people contributing stories of their dogs and their days or nights hunting.
