bird 9,944
without collie in it is it a lurcher? without collie in it is it a lurcher how do work that one out ? well with collie in the mix, you will get brain, good feet+coat, fast+agile+ wind in a dog. And when choosing a lurcher all them things what most lurcher people would want in a rabbit dog day+ night. But i thinks its getting the balance right, as alot of collie in the mix can somtimes make them a hard dog to live with .! a 1/4 is plenty in most xs . Quote Link to post

Never gives in, has it's positives for working but in the house she never leaves you alone. I swear I'm getting tennis elbow from all the throwing of toys. Take her for a seven hour lamp and she'l still be sat at the door saying come on let's go again Quote Link to post

Terrier Sam 297
Each to their own and most will stand by their preferred type but IMO you will get diverse offspring (within reason) when you have a dog with excellent speed, another with excellent agility/acceleration and a third with a good coat/feet/intelligence in the mix....? I've not had a collie cross but know people who have so I know they are a good cross for rabbits and the like but the reason there are so many different types of lurcher about is because it's not as straight forward and simple as that. Different people like the way different types work and that's how it is and always will be. Nice pics though P.S. How the hell, on a hunting forum, does it tell you that lurcher is spelt incorrect? Romany 1,065
Never had much to do with collie crosses, seen a couple of first crossers run in the `s but I can see why they could suit some Quote Link to post
Millet 4,497
Collie grey/whippet will be handy dog's for sure but for some reason i would never fancy one..im not saying i don't like a bit of collie in a pooch though but mixed with other breed's Saluki/Deerhound/Grey and Collie is my prefered choice as a hopefully alrounder..basicly lurcher to lurcher type of stuff..if you get my drift Quote Link to post
Guest born to run1083
Never had much to do with collie crosses, seen a couple of first crossers run in the `s but I can see why they could suit some Thing is Romany I ain't blind with my bitch I know her limitations. as a rabbit dog she lacks nothing. I've ran her on the mountains to the flat arable fields in England, and even on golf courses she does well on all these places. Now if we look at things other then rabbit that a different story she ain't got the top end and can only do big ears on the lamp. She's done the odd Charlie when in Irwland and helped taking photos of the Bambi but she doesnt come close to specializing in these other quarrys ,Horse for courses but for rabbits hard to beat in my eyes. 1 Quote Link to post

Andy thats the exact reason I keep collie x's, they suit how I hunt and where I do most of my hunting, my old bitch is a dream to take out she's no world beater but when she's out I never have to tell her anything she just does it. Like I say they make great companions and just suit. 1 Quote Link to post
