the only way to resolve this is bring back apreterships like the old days might be me but when thery stopt all that every thing went pair shaped there is no scills being learnt ?

bud these centres were opened. In the 60s to accommodate. All disabilities. I don't. Think the inability. To spell was one of them

Remploy was started in the 40's to help soldiers injured in the war back into work, if spelling was a problem the majority of THL would'nt be out of work and remploy would be booming.

On the other side of the coin though, i know a bloke who worked for remploy who isnt disabled in any way shape or form and relishes in the fact he made 100k from the demise of the local site........... now even the coalition can see thats not right

its a national disgrace mate, should never be allowed to happen, did you know they make 1/3 of all school chairs to name but one, i carnt see how putting all these people back on long term benifits is going to save on the money that is currently used to subsidise their employment

Maybe it costs less to have them all on the jam role that it does to run the factorys and make the kit?

It's a creaking idea mate, but it does cost a shit load of money to run a factory with all the rules and regulation we have to follow?

As you say, they should at least publish the numbers so we can all make up our own minds on if it's a necessity or just " a cut"

Even if it is uneconomical to have these centres what price can you put on the feeling of value and contributing given to the people working there, not to mention the feeling of belonging to something. I know in economies the books have to balance, but I'm damned sure there were other places where savings could be made, benefits to incomers, foriegn aid etc, the savings that could be made in those areas would more than cover the shortfall of looking after our own.

Good call matey, but we can't be seen to be racist or little Englanders so as usual it's easier to hurt our own.

having run an engineering and narrow fabric manufactures im well know all about the rules and regs. I would be quite surprised that remploy wasnt set up with some sort of covernant to stop this from happening. if i has to guess the company has become very top heavy with hangers on and cream lickers, i worked untill last year for an ex forces charity and it was no different there. The is loads of ways it could be funded if the correct buisness framework was in place, the national lottery, the british legion, the royal air force association and 100`s and 100` s of others. These and other charities as well as the goverment are always banging on about care of our vetrans, well how i see it,heres there chance to do something about it other than talking.

heres a thought start a veterans lottery were 95p in the pound gets to the sharp end rather than the other way around

That's the problem now with charities and organisations created to help those in need, they're too top heavy with costs IE, directors, managers etc.

I don't donate to any charities or causes now due to the fact your keeping some bigwig in a job rather than actually helping the people you thought you were donating to.
