paulus 26
the more exercise the more food he will require as for the amount you will know by looking at him just add or reduce as you see fit and as an added note get him off that complete shite or at the very least add raw

chartpolski 23,241
All depends what Complete Food you are feeding. If you are using £6 a sack rubbish, you get what you pay for !! The difference between cheap shit and decent stuff is like the difference between sausage and steak !! LOL !! I don't use Complete, by the way, I prefer BARF. Cheers.
mally 832
I feed Chudleys Greyhound racer with raw lamb, beef or chicken throughout the season and increase the quantity according to there workload. Chudleys isn't the cheapest greyhound racer but It's the best I've found, it keeps weight on the dogs and they do well on it.
desertbred 5,490
fresh poduce chicken , beef , fish, veg good mixer it takes a bit longer to prepare and store so can be a bit of a problem but to get the best out of your dog the diet should be tailored to the individual dog .These complete foods can be handy but commercially produced one size fits all is not the way to go these are produced withh profit in mind

moonlighter 1,163
There is nothing wrong with a good quality complete. At lot of coursing lads I know feed complete as its easy to adjust if needed and there dogs are all fit as a fiddle and are top of there game
BORDERSCOT 3,816
I feed a mix of complete and raw to a ratio of around 70% raw and 30% complete - raw is made up of chicken, beef, tripe, lamb, rabbits, organ meat and bones, ie lamb breasts and necks, whole chicken carcases plus sardines and mackeral as well as veg, pasta and brown bread, tomatoes and cooked egg whites - and I use Gain or Chudley's greyhound and add flax or sunflower oil. That just about covers it.
sandymere 8,263
Basically the more energy used the more calories will be needed so increase the total input of calories are you increase the exercise/workload. I, as most people these days, use a complete as a base and add in meat and bones with table scraps etc. If you want to add in extra calories without bulking up the amount of feed then increase that fat ratio as fat has around double the calories as protein or carbs. Fatty meat is ideal or a table spoon of oil or lard with a little extra complete will all add calories, the extra fat will also allow the body to spare the carbs in the complete for use as high energy glucose to fuel sprinting. If you don't want to use a complete then meat and veg with a carb source such as pasta will give the same results.
