Bobo 135
I can't think of a bad word to say about them mate,i bought one years ago and gave it down to my mate who has two lurchers. He puts them in for pretty much everything from a cut pad to a bad sprain and they're rarely out of action for long. Wouldn't be without it now, infact i've got another stashed in the back of the garage incase the first one goes on the blink. Get one, you won't regret it. Just my opinion.
mally 832
I wouldn't be without mine, Excellent piece of kit if used correctly. I don't just use it for treating injuries, if the dogs have had a hard nights lamping i pop them in on number 2 over night and you wouldn't think they had ever been out in the morning, there ready for a days ferreting. sandymere 8,263
Alas about as useful as a dog crate combined with wishful thinking, the placebo effect is a wonderful thing. http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/index.php/magnets-and-blood-flow/ http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/index.php/fields-alternative-medicine-and-physics/#more-5018

All i know is my dogs and it helps them. Plus if you walked down the trainers vehicles at the waterloo cup you would find that 90% of them had portamags in there vans. I asked Paul Evans about them before i purchased mine and he highly recommended them, that was good enough for me.
Millet 4,497
As i have said before on here Mally i have a mag box and i would not be without it..aswell as relaxing the dog's cut's and stitched wound's heal at least 2 day's quicker when a mag box is used..i've had my fare share of wound's on my dog's over the year's and i have noticed the benifit of the box with my own eye's.. And as for them Greyhound's..they is a hell of a lot of money involved in them and i'm sure they would not use a Porta Mag if they where no good.. I have seen a significant difference in the dogs after a hard nights lamping i put the dog in overnight on number 2 and where they may have been a little stiff in the morning they arn't anymore, and as you say it speeds up the healing in cuts and muscle injuries. I wouldn't be without mine

Mally i picked one up last year and have only used it for minor knocks and tears, i have never put the dog in one once home from a shift on the beam however i shall try it. Have you ever used one for conditioning a dog as in the instructions it mentions " pre race conditioning/toning i think " ? So was wondering if it could be of use for getting a dog fit pre-season ( i only keep lamping dogs ) ? Cheers Atb And Sandymere if Paul Evans recommends them, then that's good enough for me ( and incase you don't know who he is, he,s a specialist running dog vet locally and very well respected ).
Millet 4,497
Freelance..i think the pre race toning is meant for greyhound's but i suppose the lurcher's could benifit..i have had my box for over 6yr's now and it has seen it's fare share of usage..from cut's torn muscle's..like Mally i used to put the older dog's in after a night on the lamp and it seemed to take the edge of any stiffness..i only put them in for 1hr though on number 4..i was out lamping one night many moon's ago and the dog i had with me at the time hit a fence head on at full speed..he just collapsed into a shaking heap on the floor and i was certain he had broke his neck..but after about half an hour he managed to pull round and managed to stand and walk with a wobble a bit like after a anesthetic.. When i did manage to get him home he was placed straight in the Mag box for 1hr...i don't know if it was just coincidence but the next day he was walking around as though nothing had happened..and he ran for another year after that with no problem's..
Born Hunter 17,818
I've never used one but Sandy raises an inconvienient yet nonetheless valid point; there is absolutely no medical evidence to suggest any sort of magnetic therapy has any effect, especially with such weak magnetic fields. If it works for you though then crack on I suppose.

When I'm getting the dogs fit i will pop them in for an hour on number 5 or 6 every other day, I don't think you can beat the roadwalking though lads for getting a dog right. When i picked my porta mag up from the bloke who makes them he recommended number 2 all night after a good nights lamping or if the dogs taken a knock, 5-6 is for toning and conditioning the dog. I also got a magnet with mine to test to see if it's working, and if folk call it a weak magnetic field then they havn't felt the current, especally on number 6 !!! I did not get a magnet with mine but i have a small barrel shaped magnet here for testing now and again..i place the magnet on the floor inside the box and on number 1 it hardly moves but by the time i get to number 6 it's rattling all over the place..like one of them jumping bean thing's..
samba 534
great things to have any respectable dog man or whippet/greyhound trainer will have one of these around there kennels so should be in ant working dogs kennels it even tones up the show dogs well worth the money in my book but they will always be the sceptics and doubters
reddawn 2,173
iv done a fair bit of research into these boxes, an the only folk that seem to slate em are folks who have never used em, yet a know a few honest decent dogman, who make no money off this product or have anything whatsover to gain from you buying 1, an they all swear by them an use them on there own dogs, in my life iv learnt to listen to the folk who have tried summat, rather than the folk that disbeleive for whatever reason...
