gonetoearth 5,144
[ Harrison has been the greatest disoppionment in heavy wight boxing he had the division waiting with bated breadth. Then it all fell apart would he have. Beat price ? having not reached his full potential. It's unanswerable. Stig Without wishing to disrespect amateur boxing..............i think Harrison probably did reach his full potential as a pro.......it just so happens he wasnt that good !......I believe a correctly schooled amateur can reach great heights,AS AN AMATEUR.....................but that may mean nothing in the pro game its so vastly different....Harrison being a perfect example. but gnash its very rare for a boxer to become a pro without the aba experience yes it happens. , I just think Harrison. Never made the jump end of yes the pro game is vastly different. It is a totally different sport these days the empisis being more like sword fencing a international level now ko s are rare getting rarer but as pre cuser for the pro game its still in most cases the only option unless your from Mexico or the south Americas. gnasher16 30,046
Absolutely, like i said im not disrespecting the am,s and its a process we all go through nobody walks in off the streets into the pro ring.................what i mean is all the rosettes and ribons in the world are not going to add up to much in the pros and Harrison is the perfect example of that.............because of his Olympic medal his career was scrutinised from day 1 in the pros.....he never went through the undercard fights and was top billing from the off......while that might be great financially it is hurtful to the career of a young fighter as your instantly under the spotlight and trying to impress without ever really learning from boring 6 round undercard fights. Amateur boxing has its place but success doesnt guarentee success in the pros and personally i just dont think Harrison was that good....i think he reached his peak in the Danny Williams fight....and that was simply his level. But this fight he will loose in the ring, but still fill his pockets and thats the name of the game today
gonetoearth 5,144
There has to be journey men there would be no pro game with out them and I respect any man who trains and keeps him self fit , some of the lads I've met over there years have been. Invaluable to rising star as sparing partners and training partners teaching kids just out of the ams. The tricks of the trade Harrison has gone from prospect to journeyman. But still deserves respect IMO

But still deserves respect IMO Totally agree...........years ago a good sparring partner was like gold dust and it was a career within itself of which good money was there to be earned with the right connections,..you would have your own trainer, get good accomodation etc..................i do think its a little sad today where a fella like Harrison who is not far above journeyman can become a millionaire on very limited talent......f**k me its a shame journeymen never made millions in the ,s

brookie 1,193
as for david price .the blokes useless ,if you cant see that .well specsavers is on the high street There was a time when i thought you knew a little bit about boxing Brookie.............this comment alone tells me you are not a fan of boxing......you are just a fan of Tyson Fury.................and thats fine......... But personally i prefer talking sport with sports fans not hero worshippers.........so you crack on and thats about sums you up .youve constantly tryed to be clever on here and put your self about on here as the man in the know . when really youve commented on the basis of your arrogance and assumptions . i think your really an angry man .because you either tried to emulate some one or secretly pretended you was a contender .but really your just on here 24 / 7 posting shit .trying to discredit fighters you know f**k all about .you know nothing about theyre opponents only what you read in the sun .you talk old mate crap . as it goes you crack on .you and your arrogance .as for a fan of tyson .yes i am .hes my cousin . and ive been around long enough to know whats what .you have your laptop .son i have reality .ive tryed to be civil to you for a long time and ive always bit my tongue at your snide remarks .about my family and other comments in general .you get and watch the hammers kid and il watch my cousin bring the title home

I dont kid anyone son least of all myself.....i failed as a top fighter but eeked out a living through the game...nothing more nothing less,i can live with that........ive maintained a love forthe game over many years which i believe gives me a common sense unbiased view towards fights and fighters and an educated/experienced enough mind to qualify to pass comment. Your cousins Tyson Fury and that seems your only real interest....... it deludes your thoughts to the point you think his unknown younger brother will beat the world as well !!.....This " family name " bollocks might mean something to you but in the real world of sport it means nothing......i could tell you how a family name can effect a sporting career from personal experience yes your right i did try to emulate someone and didnt come close........... I have a strong affection for Kevin Mitchell but i dont delude myself into thinking he,s king kong and will walk through Ricky Burns next month.....even though he has already reached the highest level of the sport..........and i certainly dont kid myself into thinking his unknown younger brother is anything more than what he is. Snide comments about your family dont be silly lad i dont know them from adam and im certainly not snidey ive been around enough in the real world to be respectful to people until its time not to be.......the reason you take things to heart so much is because you talk boxing with a split tongue and a weighted heart.................to be honest i dont think i,ll be losing any sleep over your hostility, however im a well mannered respectful chap and will never allow a man to walk away presuming the truth instead of knowing it.... and there you have it.
