lewis collins 4
hi guys, this is my first time posting on this part of the forum, but anyway. during a successful day shooting yesterday, there where alot of crows and pigeons were looking to come in, then hastily flying away. we were keeping all skin concealsed and the guns were down until the last minute. i believe that because the birds are seeing theyre dead comrades they fly away. could this be the reason for the birds flying away or am i being stupid. thanks alot lew Quote Link to post
predatorman 54
dead birds laid on their back will spook birds coming in to range. turn them the right way up mate to keep things natural looking. Quote Link to post
paulus 26
as above also double up on your cam netting especially at the front as they can see the slightest movement this time of year and crows have eyes like shite house rats when you have a gun Quote Link to post
The one 8,487
After you have set up walk out a bit and look back at your set up them your hide and if you see something thats whats going to spook incoming birds Quote Link to post

Tam O'Void 297
A few times, when out with my Ol'mucker. All Realtreed up an well tucked in,decoys out. Birds would turn at last min .Well I decided to go out to a different spot, away from my Ol'chum. Looking back down to him, couldn't see a thing !then a Glint ,a flash like a mirror.... Went back down to his spot...THE DOG was tied up,Terrier...a STAINLESS STEEL leash Sun was catching it.....and giving the spot away.. So if dog isn't trained to sit...use a CORD or Leather one Quote Link to post

lewis collins 4
What pattern do you use and how far from your hide? we you a horse shoe pattern for pigeons, and for crows they are scattered around. they are put around 30 yards from the hide atb lew Quote Link to post
hotshot2me 31
Lew, are you using any Crow decoys in conjunction with your pigeon decoys, if not do so put a couple about 6 feet apart to one side of the main pattern, you can buy them on e-bay about £5 and they are flock so don't shine. you'll find this works well, shot a few like this, You see it works like this they feel safer when they see other Crows with the pigeons and same for the Pigeons, hope you have good shooting: Dave Quote Link to post

remi700 99
Dead birds are upside down are bad but if you drop one upside down with the wings out its real bad!! As said above try to keep the thing natural. I wouldn't use too many crows if i was trying to shoot pigeons they tend to scare the pigeons off, that could also be part of your problem. Id usually just use a pair of grey crow decoys placed 30 yards upwind of the last pigeon decoy and call them in. Atb Mark 1 Quote Link to post
