open season 21
Hi guys and girls just wanted to ask if any one actually likes the crossman domed pellets that come in a screw on lided tin. the reason i ask is i have just used them tonight in 22 and i was seriously disapointed with them. I used them in my Theoben Scirroco and they was absolutly useless not an accurate shot at all from any of them at first they seemd to be a good quality pellet which fitted nice in the barrel good start i thought then upon fireing a few rounds they seemed to be very inaccurate so i gave them the benefit of the doubt and kept on using them i also found they would change from a nice fit in the barrel to a slack fit then a very tight fit. considering they have such a good reputation i was not impressed, i was looking forward to a loverly accurate pellet i cant understand it really i just couldnt get them to group at all. My lad was with me and he was using RWS Hobbys a cheaper pellet than what i was using and he was hitting all the time with great accuracy. I then used his pellets and the accuracy was nion perfect and the grouping was far better WOULD THEM crossmans be better in a pcp i dont know but they seem to have no weight to them at all i was also told that they was also made for Webley and the only difference is that they are tumbled twice for Crossman and once for Webley is this true ? neil82 1,080
only used premiers myself (the ones in a cardboard box) in .177 so cant comment on .22`s, but whoever told you about tumbling air gun pellets was talking bollox, do you think lead that was that soft would stand up to being tumbled, they may get some sort of clean, but tumbled, no way 1 Quote Link to post
Tron 173
I agree with Neil that they would not be tumble polished, I recently purchased 1500 of these pellets in .22 calibre for my AA410 carbine because a local supplier was selling them for £7.20 per tin. As Open season asked are they as good as they look? Hrrm, The jury is out on that question, I too have found that I am not hitting things that I used to up to 35 yards, certainly not as good as I used to!. Mind you I am not the shooter I was, but I will say my groups tighten up when I use AA field! Quote Link to post
open season 21
Hi Tron bud do you find the crossmans to be very light i was amazed at how short they are too so its not just me that finds them inaccurate im glad i thought it might be my shooting lol how are those premiers Niel ???? Tron 173
The premiers are stated to be 14.3 G. I have no pellet scales so I cant confirm the quoted weight, on reflection I wish now I had just got one tin to try. Mr Mole on here I believe shoots them so he is probally more clued up about them. Phantom 631
Hiys Barry, Both Chris and I have been using Crosman Premier Ultra Magnums in our guns. I've found them to be very accurate my last shot with them was on Friday the 13th of this month (been using em the ratty though in the Appartment and they are fine) The last session out in the field was a perfectly placed 44 yard standing shot and the closest shot I took that day was also a standing 36 yard lights out. I find that considdering the weight they are an exceptionally good pellet. Were you and your lad using the same gun? The reason I ask it that springers do prefer a lighter pellet (and a gas ram/gas strut is a type of gas springer). Tony 1 Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Also Barry just a quick note, you say that the Crosmans don't seem to have any weight to them, the RWS Hobby's are 2.4 grains lighter than the Crosmans comming in at only 11.9grains Tony Quote Link to post
Lewis Ste 245
I use them in my s16 and new Hw97k I get one hole groups in the s16 at 30yards and very good groups with them in the hw97k at 23yards in windy conditions (only range iv tested them at) Lewis Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
I use the Premier Ultra Magnums in my HW100 (.22) and the Hatsan 60S gas ram. Both accurate using them. Killed with both rifles, also shot at various ranges, I am not good enough for one pellet hole groups at 45 metres, but I am getting one hole groups up to 17mm wide at that distance off one magazine in the HW! I also use the .177 heavy weight (10.5) Premier Ultra Magnums in the Super 10, accurate again, hard hitting (monster nut squirrel bears testament to that) and with both pellets I have not found one unusable pellet in a year of shooting the darned things! WIth JSB pellets it was sometimes a quarter of a tin that were unusable! Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Just remember though it is the old advice, one works in one gun may not work in another, even same make and model! Quote Link to post
Tron 173
The Premier Ultra Magnums seem to be a misnomer For Crosman to describe them as Ultra Magnum when they only weigh 14.3gr is only hype, my 410 Carbine is far more accurate than me when shooting Bisley Magnums. Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Yet their .177 version is a 10,5 grain pellet! Quote Link to post

Morning Ron, Morning Mike It's just Marketing Like most things things these days. Unless they were thinking Ultra (-Light and Compact-) Magnums  Tony 1 Quote Link to post
open season 21
hi tony no my lad was usiing his meteor with rws hobbys and me my scirocco with the crossmans i put his rws in my gun and the grouping improved imedialty but as for the crossmans i now feel they are just a waist of money for me but wil test them in my Rap 7 its real funny but the crossmans seem to have no weight to them at all and the rws do but i am a believer in not all guns like the same pellets and some like others more like secretmole says Quote Link to post
