Phantom 631
Mike any chance you could send me some to try out in my baby? I still have three tins of .22's that I'm unlikely to use (Milbro Cal's) that I got years ago (didn'tlike em in the 's and not seen any improvement in 2009) so a trade of a tin of unused Pellets for you to melt down and produce some? PM me if you fancy the idea Tony Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
Amazing read this Milegajo. I've often wondered if it were possible to produce one's own pellets in bulk for practical spring rifle hunting. It's the consistant, accurate production from a dye, of a round perfectly suited to the barrel that has always confounded me. There's a world of difference between producing ball ammunition from a molding tong for long barrel, powder-burning flint lock rifles and muskets and producing a precision air rifle pellet from a dye but, the motive behind your actions is the same. If you can succeed in making your own ammo that meets all your requirements here, I think that would be a fantastic achievement. Wishing you all the best with this. Simon Quote Link to post
milegajo 595
Happy to send you some Tony. Will get in touch when i do another batch of .22's Thanks Simon, will keep you posted on tests and results. I need to gauge the bc which i imagine is a case of firing from two distances, measuring the poi, inputting to chairgun and adjusting the bc value until it matches. Believe it or not, but i think thats fun! 2 Quote Link to post

milegajo 595
Of course! I let this test down with the last hurried shot... I am very very impressed. The POI is low owing to the weight of the 11grain pellets. I had also stripped down, de-greased, polished and re-greased the TX200 and she is back to her deadly self after twanging from neglect poor girl. Edited July 28, 2012 by milegajo Quote Link to post
Elliott 436
Looking good Mike, not a bad little group for home made pellets. Looks like you're mastering the technique. Oh and well done on the purchase of the 97K, you must be flush at the minute, you're even using pound coins as size comparisons for your groups.. You want to be careful you din't end up with a nickname like Flash Harry 1 Quote Link to post
Wildling 520
Fascinating read I must say that I very impressed with the groupings your having considering that your making these yourself mate. Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Cheers Mike, I look forward to it, if they group well in my baby, I'll invest in a set up Tony Quote Link to post

You want to be careful you din't end up with a nickname like Flash Harry The sale of my time has resulted in a glut of currency, which is nice, but temporary. I have been putting the money into 'tools' such as this pellet set up rather than just pellets so I can derive a long term benefit. The 97, well, that was indulgence i'm ashamed to say... This arrangement is temporary and due to end in the next week or two, then its back to hunting, writing and putting my 'investments' to proper use! Quote Link to post

milegajo 595
Cheers Mike, I look forward to it, if they group well in my baby, I'll invest in a set up Tony Will be interesting to see performance through a pcp. Do you use a magazine on your s200? I wonder if that will widen the groups as the theory suggests. Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
No Mike, At the moment, my baby is single shot, if I'd had my way this week though, she would now be a ten shot Tony Quote Link to post
