fat man 4,741
I find that a lot of lads opinions on hard differ,i have seen dogs that sound constantly while working yet when lifted from the dig there in ribbons while i have also worked terriers that are completely mute and take hold soon as they make contact and come away with little punishment. Some terriers are hard on themselves while more learn to avoid a thrashing. 7 Quote Link to post

Cleanspade 3,322
Lets be honest. nine times out of ten. someone with years of experience will know a working dog and owner. just as they can spot a messer. at fifty paces. and there is no exuse for a non working terrier winning an entered class. although to be honest i dont see a need for an entered class. that should be covered with the veteran terriers thats where the proper old warriors should apear. and form can be put to the side to give such terriers a little limelight. and the biggest trophy in the show. maybe this will encourage folk to use these dogs. a little more. the vetran class is usually very small. compared to the big numbers in the pup class. it allways makes me consider how many fall by the wayside in a matter of a few years.. check out the vets at the next show. there is often a real diamond in there :toast: 2 Quote Link to post
events co-ordinator 353
CS I do'nt know if I'll take her on Saturday but I'llsee you there anyway. I've got more stories to tell 1 Quote Link to post
tommy1967 47
There is also a lot of men that work ther dogs doubled up so the dog in front gets the scars .so does that make it a real entered terrier .or when the same dog be tryed single handed does he do his job or does he keep showing looking for his back up. BIG G wheton machine 1,594
theres also the old razor trick by nicking the dogs skin to get the scars why people do it is beyond me. but in my own opinion they should drop WORKING terrier show to just terrier show cause unless they bring live prey in to work like the old shows did then id just see show type dogs not workers as we all know ya cant even kill a fkn rat incase ya offend some bird molester or bunny hugger. also stops any bitching at the shows after that. and if they did bring back the old trials then yad se the workers from the spice dogs (show stuff bred to only look good) afraid to do a days graft 2 Quote Link to post

!tony! 227
the shows i have been to well at least most local shows, i always seem to see the same faces and the same dogs. the owners that takes it far too seriously, or a certain chap in particular who has a dog fo every class thats never worked in its life . . i dont think i would bother going uless they were fell and moreland or people that put the show together people that work their dogs. its nice to see a terrier thats done some graft instead of the very clean never seen a hole type . After all a working terrier show should have working terriers in . just my opinion 1 Quote Link to post
