wabbit slayer 16
I currently own a brno mod 2 22lr bolt action. its my first rimfire my question is, would a more moden gun say a cz 452 varmit be any more accurate? Would the heavier barrel make any difference? And would it be much if any quieter with and without a moderator. Quote Link to post

Bootsha 1,306
I shoot a bsa supersport 5, made in 1960 something, i wouldnt change it simply because it shoots well, i can hit with it consisitently, and theres probably better steel in the barrell and make up of something that old than you may get these days, possibly. Like has been said, practice with what you have got, you'll be suprised how well it ends up shooting. Regards B Quote Link to post

matt_hooks 188
Would a modern gun be any more accurate? No. Would it be any quieter? No. The .22LR is a rifle that doesn't wear out barrels, and older guns are capable of as much accuracy as newer guns, given that you've found the right ammunition for it. The noise is down to the ammunition, and the moderator to a certain extent, not the rifle. If you have the same mod, and the same ammunition your noise levels will be similar. A newer mod might reduce your noise signature a tiny bit, but changing your rifle won't. Quote Link to post

I own a model 2 brno built in 1981 and its just as accurate as the brand new cz 452 i bought 4 years ago. Using a half decent moderator like a sak or parker hale your Brno will be very quiet. The loudest noise is the bullet hitting the skull of old buggs Quote Link to post
