isnt there smell the whole point of using them for work ?

Nope. Their prey drive, and rabbit's inherent fear of fast moving things with teeth is why we work them. Otherwise all ferrets would bolt rabbits, rather then the differing qualities of working ability.

smell is as important to the ferret as its teeth are, it uses it as we would use our facial expressions, have you not ever smelt an aggitated ferret :hmm: scent is a very, very big part of most animals lives

But rabbits don't bolt because of the smell, that was the original statement.

its possible mate, ive had rabbits in nets in the past from just a terrier digging at a hole.so they can bolt to sound so why not smell after all, not all rabbits in a warren will be in stop ends and the rabbits only 2 means of defense are having no nerves in its arse end and its ability to run.

There's a difference between the sound of something coming, and a smell blowing through. You wouldn't expect rabbits to bolt if you dump our box by the hole and let the wind blow through.

strange things rabbits sometimes they bolt for the slightest thing, othertimes they wont budge. nobody has ever really explained why, the obvious noise, smell ect aside :hmm:

so if you bathed your ferret and made it smell pretty do you think it would work as well ?

If smells alone could bolt coneys then i would not wash my cock for a week then i dangle it inside the hole and net the others

WHY? does your cock smell like a ferret?

I had rabbit in the net last season before I took the ferret out the box? Was a little 3 holer, put nets on, then as I was rolling a fag a bloody rabbit bolted in to the net at 100mph!! I asked mate if he'd put fert in and he said no checked box and there he was? Droped him in but nothing else bolted. I assumed it must of cought a whiff and thought "f**k that!"

Just my experience

Lol

This topic has cheered me up

Someone one told me to sow in some dry lavender in to there fleece bedding and they will smell of a ferret that has been rubbed with lavender....

That about sums it up.. You can't mask the musk.

Learn to love it...... But maybe not as much as the bloke who's cock smells like one though
