Libertines 0
Hi everyone, been following the forum for a good month or two, I do a bit of airgunning and snaring but me and the missis are looking at getting a dog (she wanted a shar pei at £1000) But I would like a lurcher- I have 1 two year old lad and we have a baby on the way, so the dog would do a bit of rabbiting and be a house/family pet. I've been thinking of maybe 3/4 greyhound 1/4 collie, but am welcome to all suggestions and ideas. Thanks for reading Dale Quote Link to post

Libertines 0
Yeah I did think about a whippet I just liked the size of the bigger greyhound, and the permission(s) I have are quite open farmland in lincolnshire Quote Link to post
paulus 26
size of the fields doesnt matter anymore as rabbit and rat are our only options 2 Quote Link to post
stroller 341
i think your original suggestion should be fine, i would probably get a kennel and run set up as well. it will keep the pup safe and contained and let your missus have a break when you have such a young family 1 Quote Link to post
reddawn 2,173
i few years ago i had a 3/4 grey 1/4 collie in the house as a pet/come lamper, i also had a young family about the age of yours, an i couldnt fault the dog being indoors or with the kid an baby, dog really was a pleasure to have about, he never worked to the standard i wanted an was rehomed to a less demamding home, but as a hoose dog/pet he couldnae be faulted Quote Link to post
Libertines 0
Yeah I have never used a dog for hunting (am not sure of the whippets stamina, that's why I thought g/h would be better that's all, from what I've read on here) Quote Link to post
