Romany 1,065
One of the dogs she could have in her, a while back though This bitch was smaller, a bit more wool on her, 4th generation lurcher x lurcher with mainly deeround, a touch of bob tailed collie in her..she was a phenomenal killer, and she bred for the guy who had her..she was 7 of 8 in this picture and was still going strong What's the name of this dog Romany? Your dog is coming on very well birddog, simply beautiful. Hi Hon.. She is called Sophie..might not be related now Ive seen what that bitch was bred from.. Quote Link to post
Keeps 403
Yes, as you say, I don't think shes related to these. Do you know what the black dog owned by Pie was called Bill? Quote Link to post

dvdskv 30
Beautiful animal ! My type of dog If it came from the Ashington/Bedlington/Newbiggin area, I probably knew it's forebears back in the 60's and 70's !! Cheers. well aye man, it's canny like, ta muchly cp and she gives them non peds a race as well, you will for sure mate she's got the brindle dog in docherty's book twice in her pedigree, apparently he was mated to his daughter if that jogs anything mate If you mean Thorn, ( The Assassin), yeah I knew the dog, not well, but my mate had a match with it, and got beat !! LOL !! A top class dog, and this was before the Saluki Hybrid became popular. Cheers. Thorn is the great great grandfather to these dogs, a dog that was from before my time or maybe when I was just a kid, but I've still heard lots about him Quote Link to post

Thorn was half brother to one of my bitches, (bred him to her at one point) he was truely a phenomenal dog, he did get beat in a match with a little dog called Fiver one day(called that because thats how much it cost) but I know which dog I would have had... chartpolski 23,303
The dog my mate had was a Deerhound type called Brin. He was the first dog I saw do "the four tricks", HJKC, on a hare. A very good dog, but Thorn beat him fair and square. I had one of the first Saluki types in the area, and tried many times to mate her with Brin, but it never came off. Cheers. Quote Link to post

birddog 1,354
wish i'd had the sense to do that when i was younger, top class romany, but according to the deerhound topic you apparently know little about other types, young grasshopper has much to learn i think. according to my understanding stan her father is by sam who is by storm out of jin. ive got conflicting data on stan's dam..molly but i'll leave it to kev or jan to clarify Quote Link to post
Romany 1,065
I was sure Gin was out of Storm, could be wrong, its a while ago, sure Storm cam from Minshaw stuff, agai, I could be wrong..I tried to buy that Gin bitch years ago, if Kev can see Scotchy, he will remember what I offered for her....Jan seems to have collated quite a bit of useful info on the lines... Stop press...no, Gin was out of the assasin, thats why I wanted her..I think Edited July 23, 2012 by Romany Quote Link to post

Stop press...no, Gin was out of the assasin, thats why I wanted her..I think according to what i've got 'gin' was by 'thorn' out of a bitch that was also by 'thorn' i have a picture of 'gin' and she is of a similar stamp to 'thorn' but i've not sussed how to get it out of a message and onto a post, maybe when the young lad gets up he'll help his dad Quote Link to post
Romany 1,065
Gin was a darker brindle than Thorn (the assassin dog) I may have a picture, if I can find it you can have it..racking my brains now, Im sure she was out of Gingers Nance..if so, she was not out of Thorn, but, was related to him. Like I say, I tried to buy her for her breeding, had a dog lined up that I was going to put to her and keep a bitch pup,, Quote Link to post
chartpolski 23,303
What about the "Widdrington Train", Bill ? That was a contempory of Thorn. Was it any relation, did you see it work ? Cheers. Quote Link to post
