Tug 168
I'd make damn sure they knew it was for a vasectomy beforehand, I'd even get it in writing on a quote. If you haven't got that as proof then there's not a lot you can do. Quote Link to post

At the very least they should be giving you your money back but even that will still leave you with a castrated hob rather than a vasectomised hob to take your jills out of season. I had something similar when my bitch was speyed, they were supposed to be removing her dew claws as well which was all agreed to and then after speying her first I then received a phone call to say they wouldn't remove the claws as it was illegal, which it's not, and this took away my option of going elsewhere to have both ops done in one go. When I complained I instantly got a 50% discount on the speying fee. Not sure what else you can do maybe get another hob and get them to do the correct op free of charge but even that will still leave you with an extra ferret to feed because of their mistake. BEARINATOR 2,869
What do you mean in for the snip? Vasectomised so it can still be used to bring jills out of season Quote Link to post
max abell 196
When we have had hobs vasectomised in the past we have checked and double checked with the vet that we want a vasectomy NOT a castration if they fuc*ed up i would then sue them or at the very least want my money back it's not like they are shy about charging the robbing sods Quote Link to post

The one 8,479
There must be a governing body ask if its him or the vet that did the operation you report and watch his face and see what he says Quote Link to post
PeterButler 0
There must be a governing body ask if its him or the vet that did the operation you report and watch his face and see what he says The Veterinary College is their governing body and the people to report them to, and I would report both the vet that did the op and the practice Quote Link to post
ferret100 47
Did you atually speak to the vet carrying out the op beforehand? Did you express to them in person that you wanted your hob vascetomised? It would seem a bit rash to report the vet if it was a receptionist/vet nurse that booked your hob in for castration instead of vascectomy. If it was the vet that made the error, they still carried out a sucessful procedure and your ferret was returned to you in good health. There was no mistreatment or deliberate malpractice. It would be very unlikely that reporting the vet would affect their career, this is a issue with this certain Veterinary Practice. However, regardless of who made the error, from a customer point of view it's just not good enough. I would expect a full refund and a free vasectomy on your next hob. Atb. Quote Link to post
