MoChara 1,632
I went in to do a mechanic course - i really really wanted to do it, since i was 15. When i went into the careers place and sat down with a man, told him what course i wanted to do, he laughed and said "Oh are you sure you want to do that? Would you not be better doing a job better suited like a HAIRDRESSER!!!" I replied and said no i want this - he rang the head of course and they had a right laugh at my expense the dirty b*****ds The head of the course told the man to tell me - the course was full and that I should be glad because it was all fella's enroled.. Well least to say i came out feeling like pure crap (as if i wasnt good enough to be a mechanic, just cause i was a girl). I got my fella to ring up saying he wanted to enrole - well to our surprise there were actually still two spots left on the course. I never mentioned it again, knocked the heart right out of me - but looking back i should of demanded a place and took no shit. But i couldnt believe the way them men got on

I know what now, i kick myself for not doing that exact thing - but at the time i was just coming on 17 and if im honest i was embarrassed as f**k to go back in to that office, im still young enough, so i could still try again in the future.
