mickey D 10
Hi lads I have a pup witch is 6 weeks old. Any pups I had in the past I started to walk them round the 3 month mark but some of my hunting buddys would tell me that its far too young to be walking it that it would stub its growth even some said to leave till its round 7 months old. Jus woundering if this is ture?

skycat 6,173
The opposite would be true: if an animal is left sitting in a pen then it can't grow properly. The right amount of exercise is crucial to proper physical development. If the joints, tendons, bones, muscles, even the heart muscle, don't get enough exercise then how can they develop correctly? It sounds as though your mates are either incredibly ignorant of an animal's needs (which probably includes their own needs as well) .............or they are too lazy to put the time and work in to a puppy.

Furittus 35
You need'nt come down to County Down to hunt with a dog with stunted growth, LOL , tell your friends to keep taking the pills but increase the dose.
Terra Firma 136
the sooner that you take him out for the occasional mooch the quicker he will start to learn, however, i would'nt be going on long all day mooches with as would an adult dog, he'll let you know when he's had enough. Good luck with him.

Lab 10,979
The general rule is for every mile you walk it mate just hang it up by the feet when you get home for a minute. Thats one minute per mile.........30 seconds per mile you will defo stunt its growth and 2mins per mile you will have a 56tts dog....no use!!!
