Sam Weller1985 0
Hi all I'm after some advice on training my 6 month old whippet. He has fully teethed now and is showing interest in rabbits or anything that catches his eye while we are out walking. He is a confident pup but is not keen on running into cover and isnt to keen on stinging nettles ! Does anyone have any advice on bringing him onto rabbits and entering cover. Thanks Sam Quote Link to post

donkdaniel 236
6 months is too young mate get your training nailed right down first mate I wouldent recommend him seing anything till he's at least 10 months or he well be overmatched and start yapping behind rabbits whippets are renowned for it so just take your time when he's older he will switch on his self if your talking lamping you need to walk him up to sitters ( when he's older) and he will soon sort his self out this is just my opinion no doubt someone will disagree or perhaps add their bit of help for you anyway good luck and well done for asking to many dogs messed up just because people don't know and mess them up before thay start atb donk Quote Link to post
salukiman 28
agree if you enter to quarry with out all the training done you will have no controll when the exitment is with the rabbit and not you. i would get breaking to ferrets and start this way as a rabbit in a net will boost confedence and is a much more controlled enviroment for you both to learn Quote Link to post
