Gunsmith Needed!

[bANNED TEXT] a disapointment mate, how hard is it to find a gunsmith

getting a cz might be the best bet, they are bloody nice rifles, now i take it you are going to fit a mod, or use the one off the hornet and scope so that will save a few coins.

don't know how hard it is to change calibres on your ticket but might be an idea to think hard about a 223.

i have one with a mod and it is as quiet as a .22 and heaps cheaper to buy ammo for,and with abit more legs for those long shots..................just throwing a curve ball at you.

Macnas; I noticed tonight that my chit comes up for renewal at the end of next month? Ok. Figure in the fact that I'm guaranteed some more money then too ~ my pension comes in at months end ~ and that I'll have to corner my local Gard all over again ..... Then again; Would I be permitted to renew before the actual deadline? Only what I'm thinking is to get two birds with one stone, as it were. Ask him to process my change along with my renewal. Could possibly sort that out for the end of this month, see?

Kiwi; I've long since been told that the .223 is The fox rifle supreme. However, if ye knew the exact sort of terrain I shoot over, then I believe ye'd see why it is I'm actually more comfortable with 'just' the Hornet. I really don't want any more poke than this one can put out. There being quite enough distant, scattered and hidden cottages to worry about. Lanes too. And as for the bloody cattle! No. This is about as powerfull a firearm as I'd feel comfortable with round here mate.

As for cheaper rounds? Please don't torment me! It breaks my heart to even think about loosing off all those euro's again, just to see which way the new one shoots! :icon_eek: I'm So looking foreward to the time when I can, at last just venture out with my rifle and five rounds in my pocket. Knowing I'll be damn lucky and happy to come back having expended one!

You cannot renew your certificate before the end of July. The coppers get the notice of renewal from Dublin, and send out your letter thereafter.

The amendment to your cert to change your rifle is a simple affair as previously noted. If the gods are with you, you could, feasibly, get the whole lot done in one evening depending on time and tides, the phases of the moons of Jupiter and all the other things that decide the garda station timetable.

The garda will take the form your firearms dealer gave you, mark up the chage on your certficate, take a note of the change of detail and get the data updated on the PULSE computer system. Once you have the marked up cert you can go back to the dealer and pick up your new rifle.

So you can get that done before the renewal date if you like, or wait until the end of July and get the two things done at the same time. Much of a muchness really.

Dean; I just Found Out what a bloody CZ'll put me back, mate! About the 700 Euro mark! And that's not even brand spanking! :icon_eek:

Casual 'research' suggests a Sako is a better quality gun, all round. Dave agrees. But they're priced accordingly. F*ck That then! I'll go with the good old work horse. When I can afford it, that is. And that'll be when one of the people owing me see's fit to cough up. I'm skint just now so won't be heading out to Dave's just yet.

Then there's Macnass's oh so accurate appraisal of the Gard catching situation. All in all, I'm steeling myself for yet another long, tiresome and bloody well expensive round of fun and games here :(

Oh well, at least by the time I ever get a workable gun it'll be winter and the mists will have lifted  See them forming right now?

maybe try this

Reduce trigger pull by 50%!

“Trigger squeeze is critical to accurate shooting, regardless of the gun type. By slowly and smoothly squeezing the trigger, you don’t know exactly when the sear is going to release and you won’t 'flinch' in anticipation of the recoil or sound of the gun firing. There are several ways to squeeze the trigger. I’ll offer three methods...â€

I would agree with most of the posts here. The NEF is not worth the aggrivation.

Sell it and get a better rifle. CZ, Winchester, Remmington, Sako. You can get

an aftermarket trigger from someone like Timmney that are very easy to adjust

the trigger pull on. Could adjust it down to about 1-1/2 lbs so it will go off if it feels

your pulse beat. :drink:

Cheers
