sorry but a dealer buys something in and sells it on for a profit, the hancocks are breeders and they don't make silly claims or the like so i would call them honest breeders. i've no real gripe for o

Couldn`t give a f**k what others think, I bought a pup off Sally this year, cost me £150, not exactely peddlers prices eh ??   VERY happy with him so far, He gets to prove himself this winter.

Never had anything to do with Hancock; but he is what he is : a breeder and seller of Collie Lurcher pups ! He doesn't make extravagant claims about his dogs, and you get exactly what you expect, (whi

there are millions of greyhounds about..fact.most are track dogs.they chase anything.on the other side you have the collie who does fxxk all but chase sheep.so hancock jumps on the bandwagon n starts breedin pups ,big deal, any dog will work its what you put into them.and their not dear compared to some saluki xs when some of the saluki studs are asking telephone numbers for pups when their dogs havent done nothing.

Lets face it this puppy peddling enterprise would have never seen the light of day if it wasent for plummer promoteing it in the early days.

and it wouldn't have lasted 6 months if they weren't doing something right

First thing why does everyone go on about non working sire and dam, at the end of the day it is mainly what you put in training wise is what you get out as an end result. Of course it helps if they are from genuine working lines but every genuine working line has to begin somewhere. What happens then if someone buys a hancock bitch then trains her well, feeds her well, and works her properly and then breeds it with a top notch working stud does that not mean the pups are from genuine workers ?. What im trying to say is that no matter what mix of lurcher or longdog you have if you trace the lines back somewhere there will be a non worker or atleast a bad one it may be 1 generation back it may be 100. One other thing (im not sticking up for him) but why do so many people hate hancock or atleast his methods, there are for certain much worse lurcher breeders out there we have all seen them, he breeds from unproven stock thats for sure but on the plus side you know 100 percent what you are getting in terms of the cross and if you ask me id say for collie x's hancock is a pretty good place to look and i think so would alot of other people on this site. No matter what goes into a litter or how its bred or anything no dog is ever garunteed to be the best neither is it the worst.

lots to agree with there mate but although i understand what you mean i'd question the unproven bit, he uses stud dogs that have produced worker after worker for 10 or 12 yrs, he uses broods that have a similar record, he / they even know what kind of temperament certain stock of theirs throws. and the worker to worker brigade will go to a virgin dog because its a good worker with no record of stock production and sometimes little knowledge of it's breeding, background or genetics and put it to a bitch from such and such a line and pay / charge sometimes telephone numbers for the pups / stud fee

well for me i have a standard and morals when i keep a dog.. the main thing a dog needs in life is to be out and about walking/running meeting other dogs and people to have a happy life. I'm taking a standard pet dog here.. so how can a dog be stuck in a pen 24/7 be a happy dog? the pens can be as clean as anyone wants fact is them poor dogs (breeding machine) are stuck in their unless they are getting f****d.. now how anyone can go to him and buy a pup and say their dog men or women is a total joke in my eyes..like it or not they back puppy farming 100%

firstly...whoever says he isn't a pedler...bullshit. he breeds dogs to make money, in my eyes he's a pedler.

Secondly...he is not an honest dog man, like what has been mentioned. he will tell you the pups come from working lines, when? which dog? what have they done?...he has no answers.

so what, that there are greyhound breeders and collie breeders and no one says feck all about them. but at least i can do something about it and not buy a pup from him.

I'm 100% behind what graham is saying here. those breeding machine never get a run out, never get correctly socialised and are not given the best that can be offered to them. So every time someone buys a pup from him, you are in fact encouraging the man to carry on these antics. I know some one will say, but there are other back yard breeders worse than this, there are others that are just as bad....unfortunatly we cant do much about it. but hancocks we can.

I'm not knocking his dogs abilities or the pups that are produced. they could be world beaters for all i care. and good luck to those that have these working companions.
