Guest Ditch_Shitter
Titchy; We've been here and done this, mate. Use the Search facility and ask it for MINK, on this board. Or else just cut back to the first page of this board and comb ye way through. It's all in amongst it. Read that lot ~ might take ye a week or so, 'mind ~ Then come back with any questions still unresolved in ye head Quote Link to post
Guest little_lloyd
Those shop bought rabbit snares with the green twine. If you make the hoop smaller and so that it carnt come back should work I would give it a try anyway Quote Link to post

If you make the hoop smaller and so that it carnt come back should work I would give it a try anyway LL are you really sure you are learning to be a keeper or just simply taking the piss the shop bought snares are a pile of shite and if you are being taught by a keeper he must also be a complete fool as i am sure he would tell you that they would be of no use for mink Quote Link to post
OldTrapCollector 377
If you make the hoop smaller and so that it carnt come back What? You mean a self locking wire? Totally illegal LL - I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm but if you really don't know anything about a subject then you are better off not posting an opinion or comment on it. It can only lead to problems for yourself and for the unfortunate owner of the post who might take your offering as gospel. This is a prime example. Self locking snares are illegal for all quarry in the UK, and shop bought rubbish rabbit wires are simply not up to the job of snaring mink. OTC Quote Link to post
Guest little_lloyd
No i did not mean to make it too a self locking snare Just so the wire does not spin back into the size of a rabbit wire I do not know much at all about snaring and am rubbish at it too But i hope to learn more about it by reading posts here. Guest little_lloyd
Ill take your wise words in OTC The reason i dont snare much or even try reallyis beacuse they are banned from use on my ground by the owner If i had more space i would set out a few snares and try to learn about them. Have around 30 odd in my shed Not the shitty shop ones tho Quote Link to post

snareman 3
1/16 7x7 cable BMI Mini lock. a pegged rabbit snare holds a big mink , so does a fenceline snare . as long as the wire is spun firmly . my mate snared a 4 1/2 lbs. dog mink in a fence wire last week it held it no problem . a pegged wire holds large fox cubs , also. NightRunner 0
What's a pegged snare?? That snare will fire with the slightest touch. Most of my mink are neck snared. Quote Link to post
