Dont know uk prices but here we buy them in as goslings roughly 7/8euro each and sell oven ready 50-60each depending on demand, a neighbour of mine rears 50 geese 100 turkeys & a few duck and guinea hens... Quail as well... She only kills whats preordered and any surplus geese are used as breeding stock in spring Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Rear for xmas, low maintanence Polytunnel grow chillis or soft fruit wouldnt mind some geese is they any money in it? im getting some turkeys on wednesday. we have kept geese in large amounts before, if you are thinking of selling them on live, tere is a small amount of money, to make it pay you have to keep quite a few, and if you are planning to sell them ready to cook e/g plucked and gutted, it is a hell of a lot of work by hand, 1.5 hours average per bird, youcan buy a machine that basically waxesthem, but it is a lot of money good luck 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Rear for xmas, low maintanence Polytunnel grow chillis or soft fruit wouldnt mind some geese is they any money in it? im getting some turkeys on wednesday. theres money in everything mate but youd need a few geese or whatever to make any money and then youve gotta sell whatever your rearing,they dont sell themselves,you could rear then auction but you always run the risk of getting pence for it,if i were you i'd get a few turkey poults and guinea fowl and fatten em up for xmas,but get out there now and get your orders in and i'd also look into getting some tragopans or similar,and sell fertile eggs,theyre fetching £70-£100 for 6,you could have a nice little business in a couple o year,personally i'd still convert the barn Quote Link to post Share on other sites
addicted 16 Posted July 16, 2012 Report Share Posted July 16, 2012 Load of animals, playground and charge for familys to get in good idea but will take alot of cash why not try to use it as rentabul alockments or some kind of storidge units to the public on a weekly basis all about location maybe run your own carwash with i fuw hard working poles lol if its that big farmers will allways rent !!
