iworkwhippets 12,689
Best way to keep a dog fit, simples, give it what you bought it for, WORK, mine are worked daily, fit as feck. just like me Worked daily?? To what level ?? Handful of rabbits or bagsful?? I Dont even work my dogs everyday in the season, My dog is a cardboard cutout after a hard session it gets good grub and rest.. You surely cant push dogs full steam day in day out ?? When the seasons full swing 4/5 nights is more enought for man and beast.. My dogs are always fit and well but not "match fit" in the off season.. When i say i work my dogs daily, i mean just that, winter or summer, rabbits only. the only times we stay in is if its slatting it down, like yesterday, i never push my dogs, they ask to go out, so they go out, a good nights kip is all thats required as regards rest, i put the work in front of them, and they take it, and yes they miss as well, to me its bordering on cruelty not to work your dog, regularly, my dogs live for it, and so do i, as for grub, they get better grub than me, they are both flat out, in their kennel at the moment, i wont here a peep from them till morning enjoy your dogs, i do 2 Quote Link to post
Giro 2,648
Aye fella I take it you walk them every day, I would hardly call it graft.. If thats the case mine work everyday of the year sometimes twice a day.. If you run your dog on 40 odd rabbits a night every night, would it sustain that level of graft 7 days , 14 days and then 21 ?? I could have a dog sat over nets everyday of it life or out flushing daytime rabbits every day it no comparison it still would not be running at it peak.. I think bordering of cruetly is a bit much.. Some lads graft dogs and push their dogs beyond their physical limits, they house in poor conditions and feed cheap crap that more like cruetly.. 4 Quote Link to post
