That's why I went with the worm tho for browns. It goes against the grain a little with me, but the main thing is the youngsters see the take in the clear water and then have the excitement of the fight! bunny tickler 876 Posted July 18, 2012 Report Share Posted July 18, 2012 great to teach the kids & watch their faces light up ,we was brought up on perch in ponds & mill dams ,sadly now all filled in ,we had a great wild trout fishery here ,i wont disclose where ,the eastern europeans came & netted the lot bit by bit ,they even emptied the canal to get the fish ,sorry to end on a sad note but keep any marks secret for OUR youngsters cheers Quote Link to post

I prefer the streams and small rivers myself, but even on those the thieving eastern europeans are turning up occassionaly. Fortunatly12-16oz brownies dont seem to interest them as much! I can remember my first browns in a small stream near Machynleth in mid Wales. Even though they were only small, I can remember the throbbing of the small rod, when the trout first got hooked.
