vermin catcher 219
I am new to using any type of long net but recently i bought a 50 yard quickset and its fantastic for ferreting so much so that i am kicking myself i didnt get one years ago.The thing is, i had bought and ordinary 50 yard longnet a while back which has never even seen the light of day and i got poles from a green keeper at a golf course i hunt recently. So i was wondering, is it just a matter of attaching the poles the same as the quick set or do i need to adjust the length of the top and bottom lines ect to make it a quick set? Any help lads would be greatly appreciated. Quote Link to post

vermin catcher 219
Bolloxed about today with that 50yard long net trying to make it a quick set and decide id rather just fookin buy one cant be arsed with the messing about. The Grommets i had got didnt have a deep enough groove for the top and bottom lines, couldnt get the tension the same on top and bottom lines.Dont know how many times i counted meshes between the first two poles to get it the same then used inner tube of a bike to attach the lines for about three sections then lost the will to fookin live!!!.Should have known when no seasoned long netters had replied to my original post that it was doomed Just buy another ready made quickset and now go set this other fooker on fire! longnetter 32
Don't set fire to your net, mate When I converted my nets......I took them into the school playing field...put down a marker...paced out fifty yards....another marker....laid the net between the two....fitted the end poles and trapped them down......spread the net as evenly as possible and fitted my other poles....the jobs a good'un....I don't use grommets or castration rings, much prefer cable ties Quote Link to post
vermin catcher 219
Me and a good friend took it to an indoor football pitch and got it done,it was a lot easier inside with nothing getting tangled nor the wind blowing it all over the place. When i took it to my local playing fields to do it a few days earlier i had fooking yorkshire terriers with bows in their hair in it ,,a fookin akida dog in it ,,an ole doll,, four small children and three west highland white terriers ,two joggers, a pram and had an audience of about 30 nosey fookers. The amount of twats that came over to ask questions was unreal, and when i explained i was making a longnet for rabbits every single one of them said they had never seen a rabbit on those football pitches or in the childrens park beside it And one old lady went to report me to the rspca for trying to catch birds in the longnet as there were a few swifts flying over the top of the net up and down the field where we were working.Anyway it ended up a great job and we have used it with good success last week.Though the moral of this story my friends is this........BUY THEM ALREADY FOOKIN DONE! my hair has gone white, the Rspca is looking me for bird rustleing, and im barred from the local playingfields for ever 1 Quote Link to post
