Recommended Posts

im looking for some advice as ive just bought a tx200 in 177 and was going to order some pellets off the web but there are that many to chose from and then to confuse even more different head sizes???.what effect would the head size have on the pellet in flight or impact if any???.also where is the cheapest place to order from. i will be doing a mixed bag of target shooting and bunnie cleansing on the local horsey fields.

Each barrel is like a finger print, unique, and each likes/dislikes certain pellets

One barrel may love 4.52 JSB and the same make of barrel on the same type of rifle may hate them but love 4.53

The difference in size will effect how the rifling reacts on the pellet traveling down the barrel, having an effect on the accuracy at the target end.

Its a hard one, without firing the pellets and looking at the results you cant really say which is 'best'

You can buy pellet tester packs which contain a variety of brands and sizes (arround 30 of each) and you can test them and see how they turn out.

There are some generally good pellets, Usually 4.52, The popular makes such as AA Diablo field, JSB diablo exact, RWS Superfield, Accupel tend to do well.

All those will give good results if you are just doing general shooting but if you want real spot on accuracy you will have to test the pellets and sizes to find out which suits your barrel.

You can then consider if you want to wash and lube the pellets (a debated topic) as that too will cause changes on how the pellets fly.

If all that sounds like too much i would go with a standard 4.52 pellet and one of the popular brands  you wont go too far wrong with that
