i have loads off pheasants on the land i shoot on.the farm which grow alot off crops is getting smashed buy these game birds.i know its not the season but can i shoot them as pets for crop protection?????? thanks leepie

not too sure mate havent been on this farm in a while and he phoned me today and ask too pop over saturday.think he grows pea.wheat and barley

Well I can see them taking a fancy to the Peas when they are seeds and they like to strut around in wheat/barley fields.

 

Never known them cause massive damage to either, Pigeons maybe.

alot mate theres a shooting estate next to my farm.so they come over to are farm.last year i was just pushing them back with the terriers.looks like il be doing the same this year

Maybe putting a few shots over them with the 12g would send them on their way

Could you possibly let the keepers know. If they give a shite they will want to dog them back in, saving you the job of dealing with them. At least then they have been given fair warning before other means have to be taken. I must admit that pheasant damage is not a problem I have heard of, ducks YES but not pheasants.

or why not create your own little shoot and look after them untill the season starts
