walshie 2,804
I know this topic has been discussed before, but I'd rather not go and buy more cartridges if I don't have to. When I'm out with my shotgun, I'd like to stick a couple of charlie cartridges on my belt (just in case). In among my stuff I have a box of 36g 3's (looks like an old box) and a box of 36g SG from a time when I used them for target shotgun. Which, if either would be suitable or do I have to go and buy something else? Cheers. . Quote Link to post

Born Hunter 17,843
Either are better than a standard game load. Next time you are out buy a box of 36gm BBs, perfect fox load for a double barrel. Quote Link to post
leegreen 2,222
All cartridges will kill foxes and I have dropped foxes on many occasions with game shot No5 and No6. But as said if your looking for dedicated fox shot BB's and above. Quote Link to post

mally 832
I use express 42g 1's in my semi auto with 1/2 choke. I shoot a fair few foxes whilst the farmers are cutting the rape and corn and as long as you keep ranges to under 45 yards they drop on the spot. I always shoot them in the engine room (chest). The best about the express 42g 1's is they are a 70mm cartridge another cartridge to consider are the victory mini magnum 40g 1's or 3's, my local gunshop sells them for £7.50 a box. The most important thing is not to try and shoot foxes at silly ranges, i've seen guns on game shoots, shooting at foxes at ranges over 70yds with 30g 6's which in my opinion isn't respectful to the quarry. toby63 1,236
at the end of the day just use what the gun is capeable of.it all depends on the gun aswel .i ave an old gun single barrel that wil take mini magnums but the gun is very light for a 12g and if ya not careful you can end up putin most of shot over the top of ya target.i much preffer my auto [bANNED TEXT] fox shooting.
