saintsman54 15
Hi all, A friend told me that a quick spray and rub of vinegar can get rid of ticks. Has anyone else heard of this or used vinegar for this? I have got front-line spray I was just interested to see if anyone had used it. Quote Link to post
hyperion 122
Nah its piffle! never tried it myself but even if it did work it might make the tick regurgitate its stomach contents into your or your dogs or ferrets blood stream and give you or your dog or ferret lyme disease and that makes you go mad, blind and dead. pedro 39
I've used petrol or lighter fluid on a bit cottonwool for years, never lost an animal yet Quote Link to post

walshie 2,804
My dog breeder recommended surgical spirit, then unwind the tick. Advantage of this is you can light it in the ashtray. Seems to work (for me at least) Quote Link to post
ferret100 47
The vinegar really depends on the tick...ask it. Most prefer malt vinegar, many go for white vinegr, but there are always those stuck-up ticks that want Balsamic... Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
Jeez. anybody that wants to pour lighter fluid on there ferret,, bash on, but this is an advice forum, and thats not advice, Frontline. Otom.. all the rest runs the risk of causing the tick to empty it`s contents into the host causing infection. Voodoo. If yoy are using these methods, I assume you would be happy to remove a tick from your child this way. feking damn sure I wouldn`t be using petrol on my kids. ferrets are no different. Read the sticky at the top of the page. Quote Link to post

Lighter fluid doesn`t come into it mate.. What do you think the tick does when irrtated by petrol or whatever,!?? Quote Link to post
pedro 39
Whatever bud, am no going to get into an internet argument with you. The theory behind the petrol/cotton wool is tics breathe thru their erse, fumes off cotton wool make them loosen their grip, a wee twist and pull and its off, ive removed dozens of tics from my own and friends animals and have never left a head in yet Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
Can`t be arsed with arguing either. So you`d be happy to use the same methods on yer wean if they got a tick ? Quote Link to post
