paulus 26
I had Meg (hancock bred bitch), who i got a litter from and that produced Coco(one of my current lurchers). However, when coco got to about 2 years old, meg just wanted to kill her for some reason, a real hatred. I didn't have the space for kennels and both lived indoors. Meg was a "one man-onedog" sort of bitch. I know for a fact if didn.t get meg rehomed then coco would have been dead. There were some other factors, that made me come to my decision. But i think a dogs health is the priority, not my well being of keeping both dogs. The good thing i know is...Meg is one very contented pooch now. I was gutted, but lived with the decision. there are always genuine cases sadly there in the minority, to be honest how many people who genuinely needed to pass on a 100% dog would need to advertise the fact. the same goes for pups. yes people can say folks entering the game need access to pups but if they spent some time and effort researching they would soon find what they were looking for. northern lad 2,292
Never even seen preloved until I came on here and I must admit I was genuinly shocked at the lurchers in particular, the amount of young dogs advertised for rehoming due to various circumstances is disgusting.Four years ago my buisness went under due to all the cheap labour from europe,I lost the lot, house included, having seen several rental properties we found three we liked, only to be told no dogs allowed, difficult decision?not really.....keep on looking, now got a superb landlady who loves dogs, let me turn the lawn into a veg patch and keep chickens too 2 Quote Link to post

bush wacker 77
The amount of dogs iv seen for sale since end of season is no bodys buisness, iv seen the same dog for sale 7 times in two month all diffrent owners. Then the famouse line ( dog for sale as im moving house) another ( dog is 100% on everything jusr have too many dog) However asoon as one dog is sold they are wanting a new lurcher or terrier cheap or free to good home, the lurcher world makes me sick sometimes if thesw dogs wer giving hakf a chance they possible could be decent animals but having 7 or 8 diffrent homes before 12 month old is no life for a dog. Nothing but dirty dog pedderling doley bums. Rant over. Ps sorry for any spelling mistakes as im on me phone. wasent your dog on the biggest pedlars page on face book lurchermadd buy and sell ? skycat 6,173
I must have had well over 20 phone calls after I put the ad in the CMW for the Airedale lurcher, who is still with his owner at the moment, and having to get rid because of genuine circumstances: all the phone calls except a few were class A lunatics (IMO ) I even had one bloke phone up twice, giving a different name the second time: unfortunately for him he had a distinctive voice, ! And one offering silly money saying he had fallen in love with the dog just from seeing a photo, and had to have it Two saying the dog was to be a pet for their small children, under 7 years old.............. peddlers for the most part I would imagine. I haven't advertised a dog for a long time, and I'd forgotten just how many nutters there are out there. Quote Link to post

morton 5,368
The internet as made puppy peddling an art form, the stories and pedigrees these people fabricate are worthy of a literary prize of the highest order, their talents are wasted with dog dealings. There is a certain captive audience that gets sucked in by all the bullpoo and tales of dareing do,these are the gullible souls that are the peddlars dream. If its to difficult a task to source a decent bred pup from a genuine owner then let the peddlars have free reign with the gormless souls.I don,t buy into the argument that the youngsters know no better,a little effort on their part will gain the assistance of a more knowledgable party to aid them in their choice, its the effort part that most cannot be troubled to undertake. My biggest gripe is the ones who post on here "the pups you asked to see",bollocks,to tight to spend a fiver to advertise their worthless mutts,on the whole. There are far to many inferior bred lurchers about, with the same type of owner, that are able to sell to the same type of buyer. 2 Quote Link to post
northern lad 2,292
Morton, youve hit the nail right on the head, the problem is some people dont know any better and buy off them, not everybody knows a decent dog man who cares more about his animals than £££s.This forum is a good starting point for them, but even in the comparatively short time ive been on here ive seen lads getting started being given loads of constructive advice ,re.diet, housing, training etc, even gifted pups, days out aswell, only to see them 6-8 months later "selling up"its a wonder people try and help anybody, its a vicious circle.ATB Dave Quote Link to post
